FYI - This is from the Sonar forums. I just purchased it.

Thanks for choosing PreSonus! You qualify for the special Sonar Crossgrade to Studio One 3 Professional!

This will provide a 50% reduction on our normal crossgrade price. (Approximately 63% off of retail street value)

Go to this page:

https://shop.presonus.com/products/software/studio-one-prods/Studio-One-3-Digital-Downloads/Studio-One-3-Professional

Click "Add To Cart"

If you do a lot in MIDI and notation, be aware this looks like a problem in Studio One. I could be wrong though; my trial of many DAW candidates to replace SONAR has been too fast.

What about their Notion program?

Yes, good point. I have looked at that. I'm not looking for a score printing program like Notion in my DAW; I'm looking for a DAW that can show notation for composing and editing within the DAW.

And I want one that has remote control of the transport and arming via iPad.

Mario, do give us a report when you are ready.

Matt, I know you're all over notation so I'll just point out PreSonus talks about tighter integration inside Studio One in the latest version but you may know that already.

Thanks, Bob. I do know a lot, but the hard part is keeping up! I appreciate any of these tips.

Very helpful. That explains why I didn’t find notation in Studio One.

Thanx Eric but I saw that after I have already purchased it for $149. I didn't think it would go any cheaper! I think this should be a song "Screwed Again"! grin grin grin grin

LOL - Mario you knwo this time a year you MUST CHECK ALL THE ONLINE SHOPS first

MATT

Not to push you to Presonus as a possible suitable-sub for Sonar but Notation 6 is only $49 to "crossgrade" from Studio One 3 ($79 from things like Finale or Sibelius) you MIGHT be able to get a PACKAGE deal (SO3 and N6) if you email them I don't know

and finally FWIW's the $126 for SO3 is still a good price at JRR shop

https://www.jrrshop.com/presonus-studio-one-professional-crossgrade-v3

it lists $149 on page but when you add to cart there is an additional 22.35 discount in the cart (I do like to buy at JRR they usually add additional in cart discounts.

Thanks for the tip.

At the moment, I’m exploring Mixcraft. I’m ok on notation software, as a former two-decade beta tester for another product.

Good luck I think Mixcraft will surprise you but ....

you might even TRY FL12

Larry

PS FWIW I don't think you are a VA or synth tweaker geek (?) but Mixcraft Pro version comes with ME80 Version 2 (a good clone of a CS-80, think Blade Runner a la Vangelis); however, that is NO REASON to buy the pro version. You can get a good CS80 clone for free elsewhere or spend $40 and buy the ME80 clone direct from Memeorymoon

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
