I don't mean just gigs but also playing with your friends at your house or at their house?

If you have been fully vaccinated, do you feel comfortable going where ever you like?

Here in Miami, we have a huge number of Covid infections. That makes a lot of people very uneasy. Over 40,000 dead and counting.

One answer that is being seriously considered is a booster shot. Based on my investigation of the third booster being used in Israel, it looks pretty promising.

This has not been approved yet by the FDA and CDC.

I guess I can be a guinea pig for you as I have been approved for a third shot next week. I will keep you informed as to any negative effects.

I am really tired of this pandemic and I want to go play with my friends without fear. I only can tell you for sure the effect of the vaccine for my wife and I and a few close friends. None of us have suffered more than a slight bit of discomfort for a day or two. I don't personally know anyone who has had a bad reaction to the vaccine. Long-term effects? I don't know, but I have seen the short-term effects for people who refused to be vaccinated. Some got very sick, some of them died!

I want to play music like before again, and soon. Before I die of old age...lol

If you are not sure what to do, please talk to a doctor you trust.

Well stated sir.

I am retired and music is one of my 'helpful' hobbies.
I have been playing with a buddy in his garage, literally. Doors open, there is a breeze and we can be both silly and noisy.
While the weather Ontario, Canada is good, this is our plan.

Well said Billy!

WE need to get past this. The economic toll has been disastrous, the impact on lives and loved ones catastrophic. Businesses are being forced to change on an almost daily basis, healthcare systems are over-whelmed, the daily news is repetitive and tiring. Social forces are being drawn between "us" and "them". This cannot end well.

We need to get a handle on this before the virus mutants into vaccine resistant strains.

I know of only one way to do this.

I miss my friends.

Jeff

I have been jamming with my friend BobH throughout the pandemic just about every Sunday. We both are vacinated.

Yes. Plus I don't want to be pushed into mask wearing because some people refuse to get the shots. That is their choice. If they want to take that risk let them. I say that because the recovery rate of vaccinated people is extremely high and the symptoms are very low.

We have eaten out a number of times after we got our shots. We got our shots back in January and February.

We live in an area with a low number of infections. I think we will be getting the booster shot also.

We have had bad reactions to the vaccine. My son lost his hearing in one ear for about 2 months. His doc prescribed meds that worked. My daughter now has severe asthma brought on from the vaccine. I was really sick for a 1.5 days after my second shot.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

I'm back to gigging - outdoor venues only.

We gigged last night in a place we have been playing once a month. We got called at the last minute, the girl in the group scheduled, still hasn't recovered from COVID.

BTW she is a nice gal, but mistakenly and anti-vax/anti-mask person. I hope she recovers.

I really would prefer not to gain from someone else's misfortune. But I'm not going to turn it down either. That makes twice at that place this month.

I'm also doing a few outdoor gigs at retirement communities and when the rainy season ends and the tourist season begins, we will be doing once a week at a mostly outdoor beachside restaurant/lounge.

I am back at it as well. We have played 3 outdoor venues and a 4th show last night in a HUGE well ventilated hall at Oktoberfest. 1 more gig for the year in November and for various reasons I will probably be hanging it up after that. It's not fun.

Yeah, we really are different people. If it was a good money job I would infect her deliberately to take it away from her.

Market share, bay-bee!!!

I’ve been playing in public, and getting paid to do so, for over 60 years. I continued to do so while teaching band for 37 years. After retiring I continued to play mostly retirement communities about 75 times a year, mostly solo with BIAB.
So you might say music has been a major part of my life. When Covid 19 closed my senior venues I decided that at 80 years of age I would not return to entertaining live it’s not worth the risk.
I do still play regularly at home.

We're in the process of a respectful reconfiguration, mostly due to the passing of our keyboard player. We're in no hurry, in part due to the delta resurgence and the fact that our drummer has been working 24/7 for the last 22 months on pumping out the vaccine (yes, from 11/19).

I did a bit at our Village the first Friday of September. Most of what I did was in a set I put together for July but we went into a couple of short lockdowns. Here where I live we have zero COVID cases however in an adjoining region they had a few cases and shut us down. I’ve only done about 3 or 4 sets over the past 12 months.

The gig itself was better and more relaxed than many in the past. There are limits on numbers but that did not seem to have a great effect. People were out to have a good time.

I enjoyed the night.

Tony

Been getting bookings since mid June although 99% private and corporate gigs, none the less they are great good paying gigs. Not that the local live gig scene isn't alive and well in my neck of the woods, it just seems that musicians are willing to work even cheaper than they did prior shut down. If I live to be 100 I will never understand the thinking, or lack thereof, behind a gig is a gig at any cost mentality.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
