This is an old song, redone in BIAB/RB. Everything is BIAB/RB, except for the strings, which were done in Sonar with Dimension Pro.

Wow! What a beautiful, haunting song! I agree with Tommy. This one's a keeper! Very well written, and very good arrangement.

Great song! I love the Tom Waits vibe.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I love that Robert. A seriously competent song.
A lot of artists would be pretty chuffed to cover that IMHO.

I appreciate the kind comments. Thanks to BIAB, I am resurrecting some old songs that I never got around to recording. This one is over 20 years old.

Once again, I love this program!

That is the beauty of these programs, that is the reason I started to use it back in the early days.

Really nice tune and arrangement; can't wait to hear more, Robert.
By the way, the next time could you post the lyrics for the deafies out here
- that would be me that I know of.

Cheers - Ian

Hi Robert,

I LOVE this. It's soooo soulful!

Beautiful vocal and melody. And I like the denial twist.

My only criticism - which you can obviously totally ignore
is that I would like it to be longer. With either an added lyrical bridge or an additional new verse, I think it could be even better.

Hi Robert,

This is absolutely superb. This is now way up on my list of "Songs I Wish I'd Written".

But I also have to agree with Josie above - if you had a lyrical bridge at 1.38 where the instrumental break occurs followed by that last verse - this would be perfect.

Having said that, it's not far short now and I can't stop playing it.Even if I do seem to get a little grit in my eye each time!

Great job fella.

Martin

Thanks for the comments. I can appreciate the perceived need for a bridge to make the song “complete”, but in this case, I had said all I wanted to say. It's the difference between a sketch and a completed painting. Sometimes I just prefer the sketch.

Thanks for listening.

Very nicely done. Good job. I love the piano part.

Is that piano part totally generated by BIAB?

Is it MIDI or audio?

If you regenerated it(did it over again), would it come out differently.

I am so interested in this program.

I have been searching far and wide for a composition collaborator, but now I think I just found an alternative paradigm.

Really nice song.

My wife loved it too, she told me to say, just listening at the breakfast table, and she is not at all musical.

Thanks Kent.

Yes, the piano is all BIAB, and each time you compose it it plays differently. It was a Real Track, not MIDI. If you are looking for a musical partner, BIAB is the one you need.

Bob

Hi, Robert -

I really liked this piece; it's very intimate.

If I had any criticism, it would be that I never heard you breathe once in the piece. I would leave in a few breath inhalations, because that (at least for me) makes the song that much more real.

But, great song!

Thanks John. The reason for the lack of breath sounds is that I am using a very hot, sensitive mic (Studio Projects T3 Tube), so I always gate my vocal tracks to eliminate any extraneous noise. My recording space is less than ideal, and this mic will pick up a dog barking two blocks away.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
