Here is my latest song. After doing a couple of "sad" songs, I decided it was time for me to pick it up a little. I am personally a pretty upbeat person, so I usually write pretty upbeat songs. But this one is pretty different from my normal musical style. All the instruments are Realtracks and Realdrums, except for just a smidgen of brass (from Logic). All the vocals are me (cheap labor). I hope you enjoy it!

Beautiful Day

And here are the lyrics...

Beautiful Day
Copyright Stephen W. Young

Verse 1:
The sun is shining, it's a beautiful day
There's not a worry in view
I told my problems to get out of the way
I have the power to choose

Chorus:
Every day is good when you see things right
You can find some joy in everything you do
It's a wonderful life, it's a beautiful thing
Like a dream come true

Verse 2:
No time to focus on the sadness and strife
Those things, we need to forget
It's time to celebrate the good things of life
No use in having regret

(Chorus)

Verse 3:
The past is over and the future is bright
I see a better wy
So I keep moving to the rhythm of life
This is a brand new day

(Chorus)

Have a great day!

Steve

Hey Steve,

Really cool jazzy groove. Great use of RT's as always - also really enjoyed your vocal approach to this one. Very well done.

Hey Steve,

Love the feel and the vocals rock. Great job! I like feel good songs too. And in many ways I think they are harder to write.

I was kind of hoping for a little adlibbing solo vox against the stack on the next to last or last chorus - just a thought. Your arrangement is great.

Well done!

Hi Steve,

Wow! This is good I thoroughly enjoyed the listen. I think that this is one of the most inventive songs I've heard from you and, as always, your professionalism shines. For what it's worth, on my sound system (pretty good Altec Lansing 2.1 system), the vocals in the chorus sounded a little muffled and tending towards a background sound. As I'm sure if this is intentional or not, I'm passing the comments on in case they're useful to you.

I really enjoy listening to your music. It's always excellent.

All the best,
Noel

Steve!
My foot is still tappin'. Good groove and like they said, superb use of real tracks! Loved the background harmony and vocals. Nice song.

Josie,

Thanks again for your kind comments! One of these days, I will have to find someone who has a great pop voice to do the lead vocals on this one for me. Like you, I can hear a lot more, that I am just not too good at doing, myself.

I hear what you are saying about writing feel-good songs. I do think they are harder to write. It is so much more of a challenge to keep from being too "corny"! I hope I came close to succeeding on this one.

Thanks again!

Steve

Noel,

I truly appreciate your input! I really value your thoughts. As to the chorus, I did that intentionally. I think I may need to bring up the volume on the chorus vocals, but it was done intentionally with tight harmonies, no real individual lead part there.

Again, I really appreciate your input and time!

Steve

Great groove with super vocals and backing tracks.

You are the RT master!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
