I wrote this in 1985 when I moved back to Wales, why should America have all the good road songs ?!?
It's another labour of love, this time 26 years worth!! and it finally ended in _FIDSBJF Blues Quartet w/fid and then via the "feel and tempo match" thingie in the styles select box bits were added and subtracted! The choir is me on my vsti Mellotron making a Male voice choir. I play piano and disto guitars and did actually get done for speeding on my last journey hence the sirens everything else is BIAB midi and vsti's especially Fruity Loops. Mastered in Cubase SX1 using the classic freebies and my Line 6 KB37 and gold plugin.

The cmon Wales bit refers to the Rugby World Cup match with France.... CMON WALES

Hi alyn,

I liked the way the arrangement developed: progressively adding layers of sound and complexity worked for me. Also, I take my hat off to you and your lyric writing ability. I don't know how you managed to come up with so many workable words. Most times, I struggle to find 120 or so words that work.

I enjoyed the listen,
Noel

Thank you for the compliment, and I wish I could answer you about the "so many workable words" but when I re-read those words I still go *flip* that's good, myself. Well not *flip* actually
When younger I used to read a lot of novels and also reference books like thesauruses and rhyming dictionaries before I went to sleep each night. My wife used to say that I either had my head in a book or someone's mouth (I was a dentist). I used to write down the smart remarks of some patients and used them also. I also listened to cassette tapes of Cole Porter, Gershwin and other great composers on the 45 minute drive to work. Tom Lehrer also just sprung to mind.

In the late 1970's I heard Rutles and the song Another day where the chorus was "You're so pusillanimous, oh yeah, Nature's calling and I must go there" Finding out what pusillanimous meant started me reading reference books and then I had the privilege of bumping into/meeting the composer Neil Innes (also Bonzo dog doo dah band) and then Chas of Chas and Dave and they both gave me the insight to read a lot. ALtho Chas added that vast amounts of beer should be consumed also and so I drank with him for 2-3 years as he used my local also. Good times.

Sorry for going on but as you said in your post New Song: something in the "Easy Listening" genre

Nice song very repetitive though, and the way each line ends on the same note kind of wore at me a bit. Still it had some very fun elements. The drums were way busy, and very appropriate for the song.

This started life as a poem and so I spoke/sung the words with the verses on one chord and I only allowed myself a tune in the chorus "Days in the country" etc. The repetitive nature of the music was intended to highlight the words and give an idea of the feeling of boredom, hammering down a 3 lane motorway (freeway) and trying to stay below the speed limit in my 1975 TR6 (I also notice that Wikipedia is wrong as my car, 1972, was 250 bhp.)

Thanks for the comments. Appreciate them.
And then Wales lost

Just one lousy point. I was pulling for 'em though.

Wales, wales......

or

Whales, Whales, great fish in the sea....LOL

My wife and I often get compliments on the Welsh "national anthem". Most people have never heard of it. With her on the flute we often trade 8's, sometimes in the Marsh of Rhuddlan (Morfa Rhuddlan) and back. So much great music came from Wales.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
