After not listening to the radio for 10 years (or any music, really) I tuned in again recently to listen to how songs were being produced these days for some ideas. I was surprised to find that 80% of Country these days sounds like late-70's Rock - if you take away the twang in the voice and the occassional pedal steel, you wouldn't know the difference. I always wanted this song to "rock" a bit, but don't have the chops myself to pull it off (I'm an acoustic-guitar-kind-of-guy). Let's see what BIAB can do... (this is close to ENTIRELY BIAB) GONE I started with this... Style is _RKMDBM1.STY (Rock Medium Brent Mason) RealTracks in style: ~388:Bass, Electric, Metal Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 1169:Guitar, Electric, Soloist RockMediumBrent Ev 120 RealTracks in style: ~~499:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm StoneZ Flash 1 Ev 140 RealTracks in style: ~~505:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm StoneZ Flash 2 Ev 140 RealDrums in style: NashvilleEven8^8-a:Snare, HiHat Open , b:Snare, Ride ...and added this.... RealTracks in song: 380:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Syncopated Sugar Ev 102 RealTracks in song: ~406:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 136 RealTracks in song: 1878:Fiddle, Soloist CountryRob Ev 120 (Bluesy) RealTracks in song: 1000:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm HardRockLAFuzzyHeld Ev 120 RealTracks in song: ~~586:Harmonica, Background Blues Roadhouse Ev 120 I did a small guitar lick and the vocal. The BIABettes did the (limited) harmony. Comments encouraged. floyd

Hi Floyd,
Brilliant! Musicianship shines whichever way I look at this song. Great music, excellent lyrics, fantastic arrangement and mix and super performance. This sounds pretty much demo quality to me.
All the best, Noel

Noel - you say the nicest things! Thanks.
One thing I forgot to mention... this is the first production I've ever done that (I think) sounds better, the louder you listen. Use some headphones and CRANK IT UP.

Nice, dude!!!! Tells your story, gets feet tapping.....
I smashed the hell out of my car today. When the cops came I told him "Officer, that guy was BOTH texting and drinking a beer." The cop said "Sir, he has every right to do that. I mean, it's HIS living room..."

Floyd,
Think you made the trip pretty damn clear "Gone".
A reverse love song, just had enough of workin at it!
Bit different from your other songs, but did a great job.
As earlier comments, your lyrics are great also.
BTW, my wife of 47 years loved the song....Ohhhhh, hope she doesn't think "Gone".

Outstanding production. I've said the same thing for years that today's country music is pop with a twang. This is very good. Well written and well performed. And those BIAB studio musicians are flawless as ever. Nice tune.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
