Typical pop song backing track , repetitive but hopefully danceable. Nearly got lyrics.
The tune reminds me of a Rod Stewart/Faces composition.
Comments welcome on the mix etc.

Yes, it does sound reminiscent of some of Rod Stewart's early 70's stuff like "You Wear It Well." The fiddle sounds sort of Celtic in that context. A lot depends on what you do with the melody and variation of parts of course.

As some have rightly commented on my rock mixes, the drums could be more out front, especially kicks and snares (the hats are maybe too prominent, maybe play with the EQ and compression on the drums). I work in Sonar X1 & X2 and I find when I import normalized audio tracks from BIAB, they are very loud. I start by pulling down the master gain by -4 or -5 dB on the channel strip each imported track. I now try to pull back the faders too, then push up drums and bass to get a solid rhythm section, then push up the other instruments and vocals to taste. If I don't do that I end up clipping when I try to make the drums louder. Very basic stuff and I'm fortunate to work with a producer on some tracks - someone who really knows how to mix. I'm just learning.

Thanks,
Bruce

Yes, Rod the Mod early 70s. Slap some lyrics on it and give it whirl. I like it. Good start.

With a nod to Rod:

Well I've heard it say, that you wear it well.
Aint that the truth. I've seen it for myself.
Still got the picture, from your Art School days.
Rolling, drunken nights, we were all the rage.

Your still in my heart, aint that the truth
Feelings remain. there's no dispute.

Remember the day when your dog bit my leg.
"Time will heal", is what you said.
Well a long time has past and a wound still smarts.
Time waits for no one, especially hearts?

Come rain or shine I have to smile.
Have a drink on me, reminisce for a while.

It's hard to find a love like yours.
Sometimes it rains, sometimes it pours.

Hey, Pete. Love the vocalized version. Sounding pretty good for a rough mix, really. Quite catchy tune!

Good job!

Pete, as said this is a very catchy tune and an incredible rough mix!

I will make a couple of suggestions that you may or may not want to incorporate. Bring the vocals up and use fewer effects on them. Maybe just some reverb? Your voice sounds good so don’t hide it. Also you have a long instrumental at the end of the song. Cut that short and end with the chorus. I think that may work well but you will have to decide that yourself.

Great start here for sure!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Thanks everyone! Taken your suggestion about the vocals Mario hope that works, but am leaving the ending as it is. Hopefully it's a good danceable tune.

I have a laptop and headphones only (very limited budget!)so I do wonder how my stuff sounds on some of the gear that other people have on here.

Once again thanks for listening and happy recording to you all!!

I like what you did with this. Very good song.

I think you lost a little of the power of the original instrumental track, but it still sounds darned good. I'd add a touch of reverb to vocals too.

I like it - alot!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
