City of Misfits is a conglomeration of sounds that somehow merged into a song. This started out as a New Age song but while checking out styles in BiaB I came across this funk style, City2 – 70’s funky Soundtrack gro. So I used it! (I find this to be one of the best and most fun things about BiaB. You can try any style with chord progression. This is another case of mine where BiaB completely changed my initial direction!)

I modified the bass and drums to better fit the song, keep the pads as is but changed the patches and played over the top of them. I used my wind controller for the flute lead, the brass backing tracks (along with a couple played on my keyboard) and the trumpet and trombone lead and harmony parts. The first guitar lead is through Amplitude 3 and the second is through my V-Amp Pro. The synth lead and a couple of the brass backing parts were played on my keyboard. Plus I threw in a few sound effects for the heck of it!

I hope you like it for what it is.

Mario - This is a very interesting piece. An enjoyable listen. I like the way it "evolves" from one grouping of istruments (or sounds) to the next - so that it keeps the piece moving. Nice.

Mario,

This music to me is telling a story.

A person or entity wandering around a large city, bit lost and looking
for something or someone.

This music is for a mystery or drama soundtrack, with the various parts
highlighting a certain point in the story.

Very complex, but entertaining works.

Thanks for sharing you music with us.

Mario, very cool work...I really liked the wind instruments and some of the sound effects...you can really get lost listening to this..I was thinking that this would be a great soundtrack for a video game--exploring hidden worlds..i've heard there's a lot of $$ in scoring those vid games..this would be perfect!
Thanks for sharing it.

Thanx all for listening and the very kind comments. I really didn’t know how this one would be accepted as it is a little unconventional when compared to the other postings here. It is nice to see that some like it!

Thanx again.

Hi Mario,

Very creative and very entertaining! I just sat here with my eyes closed and listened. You music is always very visual in my head. It's always a delight to hear what you do with instruments and their notes.

All the best,

Hey Mario, this almost reminds me a bit of the Alan Parson's Project. Would have fit right in there. Neo Prog Rock? You created a new Genre. LOL! Seriously, I love what you did here. Really awesome work, Sir!!!!

Cheers,
Mike

I can see this song being used in a movie for the backdrop to a sequence where they show a guy like blankly staring out of an airplane window and the superimpose the thoughts he has going through his head as he reflects on his life. Like the softer stuff would be behind him thinking back to playing as a kid, then the harder edged part maybe when he was serving in a war zone.... nice mood music.

And Alan Parsons is correct. Very much so.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
