Seasons Greetings Forum Friends!
I know it's a bit early for a Christmas song but Thanksgiving is tomorrow and Santa will be in the parade.
Eve and I wrote this song for Christmas last year but I didn't record it until after the holidays so I've been waiting a while to post it. I do a bit of performing around the holidays and the song got very nice reaction. Although I play all the Christmas standards I've always found "Oh Christmas Tree" to be a bit dull and repetitious so I wanted something new.
As you listen, you may hear a few unusual lyrics since we're trying to tell the holiday story from the perspective of the Christmas ornaments. It's not completely secular and I'm planning write a more religious Christmas song this year if I can find the time.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy 'Round the Christmas Tree

No RealTracks in this one, just Midi and me on keys.

Wishing you Holiday Cheer!

Mike

OK, I"m in the spirit now!! Thanks for kicking off the season with this..so "right" in the caroling mood--singable melody, nice story, simply done. This needs to go right into the Christmas Carol book. Excellent job!

SpaceDog,

I agree with Floyd:
Quote:

The happiness you present in the song is so nice.
Your vocals/harmony fit the song so nicely.

Thanks for sharing the holiday music with us!

Wow! I'm glad you all liked it. Thanks for your kind comments.

Guenter, Joanne, FrankB,
I'm humbled to admit the harmonies are TC Helicon but I did layer them a bit.

I gave the song to a few music teachers last month in hopes they'd let their students choirs sing it. I think it would sound nice in a choral format.

Floyd, Tano,
If you'd like, I can post the chord/lyric tab.

I'm having a very nice Thanksgiving. I wish you the same

Mike, it’s all been said, great song. This is a new Christmas standard IMHO.

I hope that you have it copyrighted and if you do I suggest that you post this on other sites. I can see this being a very popular Christmas song sung by some big star!

Did you use the Helicon harmonizer from BIAB? If so, you did a great job with it.

In any event, I enjoyed the song.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

We always need new, original Christmas songs and this one fits the bill. It has a traditional feel about it and that helps, I think.

Good job. I only have one BIAB original Christmas tune, maybe I'll dust it off and re-post it in December some time.

MarioD,
Thanks for vote of confindence. Yes, I copyright everything before I post. It makes the whole process longer since I submit full notation and final recording.
I only post on Soundclick and I don't get much attentions except the BIAB Forum Folks. Do you recommend any other sites?

David,
Glad you liked it. I used the TC Helicon harmonizer that came with BIAB. I prefer to sing my own background vocals but this time I just wanted a straight four part harmony so I let TCH take care of it.

FMM,
I'm glad you liked it. I'm not quite in the holiday mood yet (still too many leaves to rake!)

Kevin,
Thanks for your kind comments. I'm glad you liked it.
Please let us hear your Christmas song. I'm sure we'll all love it.

Great job SD, I can just imagine myself doing a bit of Christmas shopping in the local mall and that song is playing in the background, fits in perfectly.

Love the harmonies too, was going to ask about how you did them but I see you have already answered that, tc helicon, boy could I do with a unit like that here!

all the best,
Musiclover

Musiclover,
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.
The TC Helicon is embedded in BIAB and RealBand, so you already have it. It takes a bit of tweaking before it sounds OKay, though. This was my most extensive use of it so far.
Although it's weeks away, Merry Christmas!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
