Hello everyone! thanks to everyone for you direction and some good construction ideas on the song "Book Of Life" Here is another song that I wrote and I just completed the tracks to it last night. I tried to keep it simple (which is hard to do with all the awesome real track instruments!) The song is called "My Father's Love" All real tracks were used (each track was edited as needed for the song) RT1827_ Bass, Electric, PopModernGrooveA-B Ev16 (used on verses) RT366_ Bass, Electric, Country Ev 065 (used on chorus) RealDrums-PopModernGrooveSync16 (used on verses - edited) RealDrums-NashvilleEven8 (used on chorus) RT1538 Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopBelieveHeld (used only in selected areas for emphasis) RT362_ Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming (used on last chorus) RT2051 Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking CountryBrent (first chorus and ending tag) RT1542 Piano, Acoustic (used on verses) RT2045 Piano, Acoustic (used on chorus and various sections on verses) RT673 Organ, B3, Background Blues The song is posted on my webpage as a download: www.dannyriddle.com/music/MyFathersLoveVOCAL_Master.mp3I tried to keep it simple, I hope that it worked. let me know your honest thoughts and constructive ideas, good or bad. Like is shared before, that is how I learn. I have no real musical training - just writing and using Real Band to express my love for music. All my best! Danny

Nice song!
I like the backing chorus - very cool.
The vocals seemed a bit too far back, and the mix is dryer than I'd expect. I could do with a touch more reverb on the drums.
The piano at 0:41 seems to conflict with the vocal. I'd be tempted to cut the fills there.
Again, nicely done.

thanks Guenter! Hey David, I took your advise on the piano at the point you mentioned, removed the fills at that point. I also took your advise and added a little more reverb to the drums and raise the vocals up a bit. It is in the same spot www.dannyriddle.com/music/MyFathersLoveVOCAL_Master.mp3All my best! Danny

I really like this song a lot. It has a classic almost Elvis style Gospel feel to the arrangement which is really cool. And you do a great job singing it. Get some other feed back before you change too much - always look for a concensus or you'll drive yourself crazy making changes. That's my disclaimer. IMO, and you can see what others think - but imo, the reverb or delay you are using on your lead vocal is drawing attention to itself but not enhancing your voice the way it should. I would experiment to find a reverb and settings that enhance the richness and silkiness of your voice. (Also, if you are doubling that lead vocal turn down the double so it's barely audible relative to the main lead vox and only use your reverb on the main lead and see if that helps or not.)

Nicely Done.
Like David, I thought the mix was a little bit dry. I think with a song like this you expect to hear church reverb, but it still works well as it is.
The main vocal and backing vocals are great, but wouldn't it be good with a full gospel choir behind you. Unfortunately BiaB isn't going to help with that!
ROG.
