Hey friends. Still working on demo parts for the CD.

This tune like others is still in tracking. This is the semi-demo version. A few tracks are being re-recorded to suit the feel a bit closer. New drums etc. Wanted to share while I could. Vocals re just placeholder as I wrote the song for someone else to sing. Not really a strong style for me.

Song is here:TAKE ME HOME DEMO

Song is based on a true story. I wrote for a friends wife. He was struggling with addiction. She was wreck. This is sung from her perspective. In the end, he never quit she eventually divorced and moved on.

RTS:
RealTracks in style: ~409:Fiddle, Background George Ev 085
RealTracks in song: ~363:Pedal Steel, Background Ev 085
RealDrums in Song: NashvilleEven8^4-a,b:Sidestick, HiHat

My Tracks:
Rhythm and Lead Guitars
Bass
Vocals

Enjoy! Cheers!

Sounds good to me, already.

I think you're too modest about the vocal - I think you sing it really well. For me, I'd just bring it up a bit in the mix so people can appreciate it better.

Looking forward to hearing the final version.

Hi TexasHeartRush

I agree with Bob. This is really beautiful music. I also want to add that I think this is first class songwriting, arranging, mixing, producing and performing. If I had to choose a single word to describe this song, "outstanding" would do the job nicely smile

All the best,
Noel

P.S. Your singing is perfect for this song. I wouldn't change it!

Rodney,

This is an absolutely beautiful song. Beautiful in it's simplicity. I'm not sure what you are calling "placeholder", but I would not change a word of this. Everything about it is right where it needs to be.

This should be the main cut from a Twilight movie. Those beautiful vampires in each other's arm with those pathetic looks on their faces... the one that makes everyone download it from iTunes before they are out of the theatre.

Sweet lead. 2 measures of perfect. Tasty steel. Perfect guitars. What's not to like?

And, brother... you can sing!

I am a fan.

Rodney,

I'll second Floyd!

I also think this is some very fine songwriting!
It's a tried & true chord progression that you really made shine with your lyrics and melody. cool Some very nice guitar & vocal as well!

I thought it was GREAT,

Greg

It's all been said, although that sounds like the song's hook, all I can add is that I really enjoyed every aspect of this production.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate you and its nice to share tunes I normally may not otherwise.

As for vocals, (Thanks for the props!) I am honestly not being modest. I genuinely am not the best fit for the song IMO, wrong key for me and my personal style of singing has more energy so to speak. I wrote this for a specific person to sing. One cool thing it is an interesting key to play guitar in. Its nice to play in keys that avoid open strings altogether. It helps you think differently and develop new phrasing. Either way its just a demo and those can be special on their own sometimes.

Best to you all! Cheers!

This is beautiful. I think you captured some unintentional magic with this vocal. It strikes an emotional chord - funny how that happens sometimes especially when you're writing it for someone else to sing and there's less pressure to perform.

Alot of the tv/film stuff today has a bit of rawness to it. I believe other women besides myself will also respond to the vulnerable lyrics sung (as they are) by a male. Just something to think about. Good luck with it.

Well done.

Regarding the claim that the vocal is not a good fit for you because you normally have a more energetic style:

the song MORE THAN WORDS was a major departure from the bands energetic style, but it turned out to be one of their most popular (read "lucrative") songs

I repeat all the kudos, but one comment (not necessarily a criticism) is that your signature riff may not be distinctive enough. In other words, it sounds like the signature riff from another country song, but I can't think of what it is at the moment.

Beautiful tone on that guitar by the way.

I bet the pathetic look on their faces is because all that beauty, and vampires can't see their own reflection in the mirror. That must be frustrating when you're not only immortal but also vain.

Thanks Josie. Its all good. I generally write for myself as a singer, but lately I have been doing a great deal of producing again and have been interested in expanding my writing to suit others. If I keep the tune for myself, I will likely change the key to suit my voice more strongly. Have a great weekend!

Thanks Pat. I appreciate that! 'Energy' may mean something else to me as Gary used a wide range in that tune and I am at my lowest / weakest range through the whole song here. Still I appreciate your point.

Not signature enough' for who I wonder? Pop radio? LOL. Perhaps. If it does sound like another tune, feel free to post it I would like to hear it though it may sound like many tunes. Either way it is likely I have never heard it consciously as I listen to so little music (other than for guitar learning) and I don't watch TV other than the occasional YT video. It took me 12 hours at least to write out/work out that simple guitar theme as it were. smile Cheers!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
