Some of you may remember I co-wrote this song in July this year and my co-writer and her boyfriend produced a very fine version of the song. Now, I am busy trying to put an album together and wanted to do my own recording of this song.

So, I elicited Floyds help who in turn elicited Janice and Bud’s help.

What Floyd did with the song is very interesting indeed. He said the song was so “singable” ( a big compliment, thank you Floyd) and that my voice carried it (another compliment, thank you Floyd) and that all it really needed was base and drums and some harmonies, so that is what he did. Floyd did the production and he and Janice sang the harmonies. He will be able to tell you which (only two) BIAB tracks he used

Thanks Janice and Floyd. You both did an amazing job.

Joanne:

Nice job. It's a good reminder that sometimes the simplest things can be very effective.

You did a nice job of singing and the production by Floyd Jane is good. BGV are very nice too.

You sound like you had fun singing this version.

Joanne,

Very cool! This is a refreshing, fun, and catchy song! I really like the simplicity. Like John said, it's a reminder that the simplest things can be very effective.

And Floyd and Janice did a great job with the background vocals.

Good job!

Steve

Hi Joanne,

Like Steve said refreshing, fun, and catchy.
I like Floyd's and Janice's background vocals.
It's a pity you removed the original though.

Herb. Thanks for listening and commenting. You opinion means a lot to me

John - I did have a lot of fun. I must say that my input was very quick. I just did one take of the vocals, a very basic BIAB song and sent that to Floyd. He did the rest. Marvellous job he did

Dani - Thanks for listening. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Floyd - I still cant quite believe what you managed with only those two tracks (and some fantastic backing vocals!)

Steve - Thanks for listening and commenting, much appreciated.

Guenter - Thanks as always and glad that you remembered the original...

Hi Joanne,

I loved this song the first time I heard it and I haven't changed my mind at all. It's just great. To my mind, this is such a catchy, warm and friendly melody that it pulls you right into the production. I found myself tapping my fingers on the computer desk and I wasn't even aware of doing it until the song ended! You've really got something to be proud of here.

Floyd and Janice, kudos to you too smile Great work.

Ok. I'm off for another listen now.

All the best,
Noel

Jo, The doghouse bass and the fingersnaps remind of the old tune Fever. Beautifully sung by all. Simple and effective. I was singing along by the end. Good Work ! Tom

Nice.

The songtitle threw me off, all this time I figured it was a cover of the old Standard.

Pleasant surprise, good work involing the "less is more" principle.

Strong Performance

Hi Josie,

It's all been said so all I'll add is this: After seeing you performing live in your easy laidback relaxed style on SJ I now have a new perspective and feel your recorded music, and all in a good way. I hope this makes sense.

Noel - Thanks for listening. I am glad you liked and I agree that Floyd and Janice did a great job.

Tom - Thanks. I like the simplicity too.

Mac - The title of this one has been worrying me a little and I am wondering if it wouldn't be better served with the title "Singin' Along". Will have a think about that one. Thanks so much for listening. Your comments mean a lot.

Scott - Thanks for listening.

Danny - Thanks. I am glad that we have got to know each other a bit better through the streetjelly medium. It is such fun. I guess it does help to put my music in context. Hope to see you there soon.

This worked out really well! At first I was a little startled by the minimalist arrangement but it grabbed me quickly. Janice had a lot of fun doing the harmonies. I knew it was gonna work out good when the other day I went out on our porch which is about 13 feet above grade surrounded by a forest. And what did I see and hear? Janice swinging in the porch bench swing singing these parts out to the birds and squirrels. Yep, she had the vibe. We enjoyed our role in this immensely.

I had just come out of mixing a very busy song when I heard this song. I had to listen twice just to let my ears settle into the minimalism. I found it very soothing and the melody and harmonies wonderful!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
