Testing some of the finer points of BIAB VST support, and the .wav files.

Mixing is such a pleasure and gets great results, what more could you ask for.

For those of you that like the old school moog like myself, it is a wonderful time to own BIAB.

A little shout out to Erik Norlander and the group for the inspiration.

Lyrics in the works.

Hi Digital Angel,

This is incredible!!! Incredible!!! It's a fantastic mix and really shows just how amazing BIAB/Realtracks are in the hands of someone who really knows their stuff. Every time I listen to something that glistens with professionalism like this production, it makes me realise just how far I still have to go! I'm in awe!

Thank you for posting and giving me the opportunity to hear this great combination of Realtracks.

All the best,
Noel

Nice....I like the driving rock.... sounds good....

I'm not a huge fan of the 80's lead synth. It doesn't fit (IMHO) with the crunchy driving sound of the band behind it.... it's also kinda up front and perhaps that is the issue, it's too much upfront....and could afford to sit further back in the mix by a few db.

It's hard to be objective sometimes when it comes to levels in a mix on something you played....I know that it is some of my hardest decisions.... levels on the guitars because I love guitar and play them in my mix... and I want to hear it clearly. But I must wear that unbiased producer hat. Good example is the last song I posted. I had a mando part in it which I played. Quite a few folks commented it was too loud and distracting. I had to go back and look at it objectively and ended up removing some of it, lowering the rest and the result was a much improved mix.

Here: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=221315#Post221315 you can hear both versions.

Personally I would have loved to hear some vox in this and a guitar playing at least some of the lead parts and fills.

All my opinion stuff aside..... this is a good production job. Yes it is quite amazing what BB can do with some RT and a few production chops. Nice looking wave BTW... compressed quite a bit, but not quite a brick.

It's kinda Emerson Lake and Palmer meets Deep Purple.... I loved BOTH of those bands.....

DA

Ain't BIAB wonderful, all you need is to think outside the box and produce a driving rock tune like this.

In my humble opinion the synth lead needed to be an octave lower and a more grungey sound but that apart I enjoyed the song a lot.

This is a really dare I say pretty rock sound and I loved a lot of this DA. The backing tracks are super.

My thing is I would've liked the Moog to change sounds at a couple of different points in the song for a few bars to break it up a bit. I think it would make the track even more exciting. jmo

Thanks everybody for your ears. I did pull back the lead for guitar h...
and tried the lower octave, which is not in this remix, but I would have to rewrite some parts to sound right.

By the way the whole song is a backtrack including the lead.

I wanted to show even if you have the keyboard controller vst loaded and your fingers ready to play that BIAB can do the work without "lifting a finger!"

Not to say that is was a simple task to achieve this sound but, I does make for a lot of fun staying in the "BOX" and keeping it fair and true to the programs abilities.

Great,

this feels like I'm riding on a motorcycle after a summer rain with 150 mph through Cologne.

The feeling of my youth.

LOVE it

I enjoyed this song. It reminded me of Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer in the 70's. Sweet!

Yeah man, great groove, production and what a BIAB showcase. I'm also down with the mention of 70's Jeff Beck. Thanks for putting it out here!

Song is about someone that got into a little trouble and has to get out of dodge if you know what I mean.

Heading straight for the border line.

Knowing that I'll never get there.

Knowing that I never did care.

I need someone to sing this song and let me remix with the rest of the song laugh

DA,

Solid. Good rocking sound. Good mix. As rock goes, the drums seems a little "tame" to me - compared to where the guitars are - the snare could use some "snap" - IMO, of course. Looking forward to lyrics - actually, looking forward to the vocalist - that could carry this - that would be something!

Toe tapping here, DA! That's just the perfect instrumentation you've picked for this instrumental. I can actually hear this done with vocals! Very entertaining!

Awesome job and a great mix!

Cheers,
Mike

FJ, I ran the drum group through another VR console to add a little more crack on the snare, man it's hard to get it through the guitars.

As gruverider noted, it's got a Jan Hammer sort of feel, only at full throttle instead of brooding synthiness. Nice.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Someone above mentioned the "motorcycle ride" feel of this song, well I also have that feeling. Sort of like "Get Your Motor Running! Head out on the highway!" feel.

Good stuff!

DA - sounds like you got some more snap in there - nice. If you bump up the EQ on the RealDrums at about 1.2k you'll add some additional snap to the snare...

DA, great rock sound. It does bring to mind a bike on the open highway. This is the kind thing found in soundtrack libraries. Keep up the good work. Thanks for posting. Tom
