Way back when I had this sweet heavy metal pedal that I used quite often. Unfortunately I tended to mix the guitars too hot. Also there has been a bit of audio degradation due to down-dithering. I did my best to tame it a bit with a remastering using Izotope software.

I'm playing my sea foam green Strat reissue through the metal pedal for the lead lines, and simple phase for the rhythms; and the rest of the instruments on a Korg X3 triggering Propellerhead's Reason for synth, drums and bass.

It's my best Santana homage lead pickin'!

A Time To Dine

Cold frosted evening got me bundled up alone inside
Eyes grow hard and heavy and I'm dreaming of the night
And I long, I long for life I long for love

Love that's just like hot coals on my tongue and everybody wants to get it right
nothing new underneath the sun and nothing seems to bother us tonight
lay down the lamb it's time for us to dine

Like a noon sun beneath this full moon, beaded sweat are pearls of delight
Don't sweat your wings my fallen Angel, you won't need those wings to take this flight

Tears like ice, like crystal let their prism catch my eye
Dark and shadowed evening fall upon me wrap me tight
And I long, I long for life I long for love

Love that's just like hot coals on my tongue, never mind the honey I need ice
nothing new underneath the sun and nothing seems to bother us tonight
lay down the lamb it's time for us to dine

Like a noon sun beneath this full moon, beaded sweat are pearls of delight
Don't sweat your wings my fallen Angel, you won't need those wings to take this flight

I enjoyed this a lot Lawrence, your voice is very Jack Bruce-like and particularly so here! In fact the whole song sounds like the flavours of arrangements and changes Jack Bruce used to use, c.f. the BBM album. Some cool picking here as well.
I kept thinking wouldn't it be really great if the drums were a LOT higher in the mix.

nice tone.

I would loved to have heard the drums up smacking in your face and where was the bass? I could hear it in there in a few places, but rock really depends on a strong drum and bass rhythm section working it.

Yes, I regret losing the original recorded tracks to a computer crash. I was just learning how to mix around the time that I wrote this song.

Hi Lawrence,

great singing and playing.
It's a pity you lost your original material so you
can't bring up drums and base.

Lawrence -

Super. terrific playing - awesome vocal... does sound like a "lost Cream song". Cool stuff...

Both drums and bass are very low, so... I would think that, if you know the bpm of the original, you could generate an appropriate bass line and drum track (LOUD enough to "cover" the existing ones) to add to it... would be fun to try anyway...

Great tune, man. Killer vocal, lyric and guitar. I'd try what floyd suggested. He really pulled it off with Diamonds that he posted a while back. Background vocals and RT's added to an old cassette mix.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
