Here's another original that has been waiting for BIAB to give it life. Me on lead vocal and on one of the box guitar parts.

Update 2/25/14: The original Soundclick mix is light on bass and harmony. The Soundcloud mix might be better.

GIVE ME A LAWN CHAIR, HONEY (Copyright 2003 Scott H Olson)

Verse

Some people work to fill their lives with luxuries
They live on fine food, drive fancy cars
I’ll take a burger and fries any day
That old truck out in our driveway
Life's just too short for working that hard

Chorus

Give me a lawn chair, honey, and the stars above
Hold my hand you're the one I love
Be my baby, I'll be your Romeo
Dream while we hold each other tight
Lost in the glow of the firelight
Wake to the sparkling dew and the morning dove
Give me a lawn chair, honey, and the stars above

Verse

I know sometimes it might seem like we're missing out
We stick close to home, don't travel too far
But, I've been around I suppose
Life is the same no matter where you go
We've got it all in our own back yard

Repeat Chorus

Release

What can I say
I like it this way
Little place of our own and you by my side
Where is it stated
Things have to be complicated

Repeat Chorus

All I can say is WOW this is really good, top notch all the way. The instrumentation and mix was spot on, as was your vocal! But those lyrics were what really got to me. Outstanding job on writing those! I think that this is ready for airplay just like it is now!

Scott,

Ditto to what my brother from another mother said above. This is a hot little number for sure.

Scott, this is really great song. What fantastic lyrics, and the backing works so well. The Chorus is really well written, the single section with vocal and guitar, and then rolling back into the full song works well, giving anticipation, and the overall mix is superb. What a great number.
Thanks for sharing

Scott, great write. I feel much the same way. Very good vocal. I think the bass needs to come up a lot more and maybe bring up the drums a bit. But I really like the song. Bring em on.

Life is the same no matter where you go

I love that line-rings so true!! Really good stuff. I love the message. I work 6 days a week and I just love to get home and chill with a beer and the family. The simple things are what make life what it is. Great job!! Take care. Greg

Scott,

Very enjoyable especially the "release" before the last chorus. That added something special to this already enjoyable song.

This is the sort of country I like!

Scott,

I love this song! (And I agree with the premise). I never make suggestions. Well, until now. grin

Please - put a harmony on top of that great chorus - I'm gettin' tired of singing one over it! laugh

Bob

So true. No matter where you go - there you are!

Cool vocal, lyric, arrangement and a nice crispy mix to go with it all.

Scott,

Terrific song. A very solid write - you delivered the message perfectly - very well structured. Excellent chorus.

Good arrangement and production. Terrific vocal. I assume the harmony was added after Bob's comment? Sounds good! - tight...

Your best, I think.

Keep it up!

Hi, Scott !:))

Lawn chair and a couple of piña coladas
or mojitos ? :))We used to have a couple
of those chairs earlier but moving
to the city made them superfluous !:))
I really miss them during summertime !!!!
Your tune is just super in every aspect !
I liked everything about it !:))

Cheers

The RTs just can't be beat for what I'm doing. Glad you liked the arrangement. I shy away from three chorus songs, but I do write some, so I'm happy the slow section works. Really do appreciate your feedback:)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
