Pressure of work has kept me off the Showcase for a while, but here we are back with a bit of "Northern Soul". Two new things to look out for - a new backing singer, Billie, who is Ellie's little sister and at 14 is making her debut alongside Courtney. The other thing is, (shock horror) a RealTrack - RT 404 Sax - Tenor Hip Hop Rock. Yes, I bought myself a BiaB mega pack to get me started, so expect to see a few more RTs in the future. So, all recorded, mixed and mastered in RealBand for a change.

Time Changes Everything
Take a look at life, look at where you stand
Take look around, look at all your plans
Ain't no use, living in the past
Gotta grab today 'cos it's never gonna last

Because time, time changes everything,
Oh yes it does, I said
Time, time changes everything, oh yeah
Because everything you do, everything you touch turns to dust
It just turns to dust, so
Anything you want, just take it while you can, you know you must
Oh yes you must.

You're living in a trance, you're living in a dream
All the things you've got, are never what they seem
You've got a house, you've got a piece of land
But time is just a thief and it'll rob you where you stand.

If it doesn't get you dancing, turn it up loud and watch your speakers dance off the shelf. Love to know what you all think.

Hi ROG
I've been hanging around wondering if you'd show up.
Another Classic!
Glad you could find time to get this one down. Excellent and in the same Northern musical vein as "Shopping".
Nice and rocky without being raucous.
Some neat guitar work from you too.
Good to hear your new recruit in there - RT404! lol!
NO, sorry, I meant Billie! blush
Class mix and mastering.
Another one for my car mp3 player.

cheers
ian

ROG,

Terrific mix! CRANKED it still holds together. The horns are well done - especially those holds in the chorus - then followed by the sax (nice!) and then your guitar (even nicer!)... Love your vocal on this. The girls sound great!

A good write. A very enjoyable listen. Ran through it 3 times, and now it's really stuck in my head!

ROG, a great feel happening there, both the RT backing tracks and backing vocals are working well, I really like the style.

Hi Rog...

We love it! There was a Country song back in the 40's or 50's with the same title. It wasn't anything like this this!!!

Great music...loved the arrangement! Your vocals are stellar and the background ladies sound terrific! Great job in all respects! Best to you...

ROG,

Not being a northerner I have never understood Northern Soul confused BUT I do like Temptations/ Motown style in this song.

This song is up to and maybe past the usual ROG high standard laugh

You have some good backing singers at your disposal, welcome Billie smile

Very nice job... the mix sounds like it's pretty wide on my speakers.

Job well done on the engineering.

Musicianship is excellent As are the vocals.

This sounds like Bob Dylan meets the Supremes/Motown on a rocking tune. Definitely the coolest tune I've heard here in the forum in a very long time. For sure the best of this year to date.

I loved it.

Hi Roger
Nice to have you back on the forum. Nice rocker. Congrats to your backup singers. They certainly add a great dimension to your already cool vocal.

Ian.

Hi there. I'm honoured that another one has found it's way into your car!

Did Northern Soul ever find it's way down to the West Midlands? I've always loved it, both playing it and dancing to it at the all-nighters in the early 70s. Whatever I do, I always seem to come back to this style, so if you like it there should be some more soon.

Many thanks for the listen and the nice comments.

Floyd.

Glad you cranked it! I love writing the horn parts, but until now I couldn't get the sax solo in. The RTs are amazing and I'm just scratching the surface with the mega pack BiaB. Trouble is, it's eating up all my time exploring all the features!

I can see a time coming when I'm gonna have to up-grade again.

Trevor.

I spent a lot of time getting the "groove" to work, so I'm glad you liked it. Like I said to Floyd, the RTs are wonderful and I can't wait to get started on the next RealBand project.

Thanks for the listen.

ROG.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
