Here's a link to a YouTube video I did to accompany the audio...

Click here or cut and paste the following link in a new window in your web browser...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQiun-kcFiI&feature=youtu.be

These days, especially in the world of karaoke, you see recordings done "in the style" of this artist and that. This song was actually WRITTEN in the style of legendary singer / songwriter Skip Ewing. Now I'm not saying I'm the next Skip Ewing but his style of writing was definitely a big influence on this song.

BIAB did all the audio. All I did was sing and added a bit of BIAB reverb cut back to about 25%

Here's the BIAB details on the tracks...

Key=G , Tempo 86, Length (m:s)=3:06
Style is _CMPFBF3.STY (2 Acoustic Guitar w/ Bass Ballad)

RealTracks in style: ~712:Bass, Acoustic, Bossa Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 2334:String Quartet, Rhythm PopChamber Ev 085 (used beginning at verse to 'til end)
RealTracks in style: ~~365:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 085
RealTracks in style: ~~362:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 2038:Guitar, Resonator, Soloist CountryRob Ev 085 (used for solo fills throughout on solo track)

I used PowerDirector 12 to put together the video utilizing a standard and common built-in transition effect

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my tune. I appreciate any and all feedback!

Kevin,

If you are going to emulate a writer, there are few better than Skip. He has a knack with a story line, writes solid lyrics and stunningly beautiful melodies...

It would be nice if you could post your lyrics along with everything else here. I had some difficulty catching some of them (got 'em after 3 listens) and they are well worth hearing. A very interesting story line and some solid writing.

Your production and mix suit the song nicely. The vocal is a bit "buried" at times (thus my difficulty). Not sure what would be best to help that.. perhaps taking some lows (eq) out and a slight boost in the mid-high range...

A very good first post. WELCOME to the best forum on the web...

Looking forward to more.

Thank you for the great feedback! Being a not-so-confident vocalist I guess I tend to not push the vocals out in front as much as I should but I'll have to try the trick with the EQ to see what that does and how it works. I did do a small step-stone up on the top three bands of BIAB's 10-band graphic IQ but I need to get a bit more adventuresome I see!

Thank you again!

Enjoyed that Rutherford. I love gentle wistful story songs and think your voice is great for it. Liked the backing too especially the resonator. Cheers.

Very cool song and video. To sort of confirm what Floyd said, I got the same feeling. I just did not know how to explain it like Floyd. I am quickly learning to embrace his comments if I want to make my songs sound better. I want to encourage you to do the same. Even if you choose to leave it entirely alone, the song is great!

Rutherford, this is an excellent first post. I do agree with Floyd about the vocals however I do respectfully disagree with your not to push your vocals out front statement. You should! You have a super voice!

This is an excellent mix. Your vocals are good! Your lyrics are outstanding!

I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
