My first Christmas song. Nice and gloomy.

Christmas Flowers

Christmas flowers nodding in the sunshine
Blossom burst in bloom on the trees
If only I could hold you one more time dear
My poor heart would finally feel at ease

Christmas flowers blanketing the bower
Remember love and laughter in your eyes
Lost you late at night out on the highway
When that blood red moon began to rise

Christmas flowers Sunday at your graveside
Place them where I'd like to lay my head
Wind softly sighing like a new bride
That's where I long to make my bed

Christmas flowers bleeding on your tombstone
Crystal vase and ribbons in the sun
Wonder why I always feel like crying
Every time an sad old song is sung

Bridge

Silk and plastic flowers fade like teardrops on a stone
Distant bells gently lead me home - to

Christmas flowers Sunday at your graveside
Place them where I'd like to lay my head
Wind softly sighing like a new bride
That's where I long to make my bed - Repeat from Bridge

Christmas flowers always at my head © dec 2014

Richard,

Not one of those "winter wonderland santa's coming" kind of Christmas songs....

Such a sad song. (It can be a tough time of year for some folks).

Good to hear one from you again.

Rich,

I typically listen to a song from a musical perspective first... totally ignoring the lyrics until I've gotten acquainted with the feel of the song. In this case, you threw me a curve, because the music itself has a light-hearted feel that belies the gravity of the lyrics... which are absolutely wonderful, by the way. Perhaps the light-hearted music represents what once was, while the sad lyrics represent what now is. If that was your intent, many will understand... and many more won't. So be it... your music speak from the heart of the writer, not from the wants of the listeners.

Your presentation of the topic reveals a true intimacy with the situation being sung about... very difficult for anyone who hasn't experienced such to write a convincing song about it. I identify with everything you said here. I think the honesty in your voice is well supported by the emotion that is crafted into the message.

Thanks for your contributions to the forum, Rich... You are a good guy and you fit in here very well.

Really nicely done! Such a sadly ironic song which is very poetic and well-written. The other side of joyous occasions is the sadness about those we can't share them with. Excellent write! Take care. Greg

Thanks Charlie. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Floyd. Good to hear from you (after my stupid comments on your song).

Hi Dani. Mixed feelings about Christmas. Letting go of past tragedies (must do songs about them one day) and happy now with Shirley-Louise!

Pat. Thanks for your very sympathetic comments. It started as a very personal song but then i realized it was about many different stories in my past and the past of others also. I do enjoy it here but am prone to being too upfront and putting my foot in my mouth.

Thanks Scott. I used to loathe Christmas but enjoy it now.
Quote from yesterdays NZ Herald.
"Far from experiencing peace and goodwill at Christmas, nearly half of men admit to feeling sad or depressed over the festive season, a study by the Samaritans has revealed."

Thanks Greg. You have seen my point of view exactly!

Christmas cheers to all.

As is the norm Pat said it so well that it leaves me little to say other than you did a heckuva piece of work on it. BTW, Janice Says I tend toward SAD at Christmas -- Seasonal Affective Disorder smile

Hi Bud. Best Christmas wishes to you and Janice. Love the Seasonal Affective Disorder!

Thanks Alyn. Not too gloomy I hope.
I think we are allowed 50% sadness for what's lost and 50% joy for the good things we have.
So I had to post a Christmas song for each.

Cheers.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
