Here is a song of mine that I recorded a few years ago using BIAB RT bass and fiddle. Very simple arrangement but the fiddle fit the song like a glove. I added two guitars, with one of them capoed very high up the neck to mimic the way Nick Reynolds played tenor guitar in the Kingston Trio.

Thanks for listening.

I really enjoyed this song. I've enjoyed your posts but I think this is my favorite so far. This style fits you well and your vocals come across very convincing and makes it such a believable and authentic piece. Thanks for posting.

Nice song. Nice feel to it. The guitar capo'd up works well.

I never use a capo for playing in any particular key....when I use it, it's for this purpose.... to give the guitar a totally feel and sound.

Yes, I like this song.

Hi Fred,

I enjoyed listening. It's a very memorable melody you've created. Even now as I'm typing this, I can still hear you strumming and singing in my head!

All the best,
Noel

Hi Fred,

I like this song quite a bit! Nice airy uncluttered arrangement, clear as a bell!

Your voice is perfect for the message and key. I really like what you did with two guitars, one of which is capo'd. I do the same capo thing... I find that it adds variability not only because one of the guitars is playing at a higher pitch, but also because the capo'd guitar is playing different forms of the chords, and that often adds a totally new feel.

I wish you had posted the lyrics, though. I have a hard time retaining the message when it passes by at the speed of a song. I need to see it in order to absorb it. But, maybe that's just me...

Anyway.. great post! I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks for the comments, Pat. Here are the lyrics:
Feel My Burdens Ease

I woke at daybreak
As the freight train roared
The thunder was calling
The rain just poured
Like ripened apples
Falling from the trees
One by one
I feel my burdens ease.

Gonna get me a boat
Row it back upstream
That’s where I left her
In a small town dream.
Don’t care if I find her
Before the winter freeze
I’ll keep searching
As I feel my burdens ease.

Just like that oak tree in the backyard
So many seasons in the wind.
But for all of the changing
It’s the same all over again.

I wrote this song
Many times before.
Gave it a new name
Pushed it out the door.
I sang it in Saigon
And in the southern keys.
Now I’ll sing it
As I feel my burdens ease.

Really, really good! I listened to it multiple times and will download it to put on my gotta hear playlist.

I like listening to you sing Fred. I like your songwriting, your song arrangement and ear.

I listened to some of your other selections and enjoyed your 2011 Christmas selection too.
