Lyrics

I was thinking of a day I the mountains in France
Wondering if maybe I’d take a chance on you
And you’d take a chance on me too
I was walking through the forest with a glint in my eye
The clouds drift away and above me the sky is so blue
Almost too good to be true
Poor as a beggar and drunk as a loon
He cursed her sweet name and he howled at the moon
And said don’t you worry my friend we’ll all be dead soon
He laughed like he does and ran a hand through his hair
Fixed me like an insect with a basilisk stare
Said oh you glib shallow Johnny just have a care
So I walked home alone I was tired near to death
I thought of the places I should never have left
I thought of the places I should have left well alone
I was thinking of a day a storm on the ocean
I was thinking of the words that set things in motion with you
From such a small seed it all grew
I was walking through the shallows where they reflected the clouds
I was feeling like an Emperor I was singing aloud
I was wine drunk on happiness and wondering if it was allowed
Hard on the outside and soft underneath
Desperately seeking a set of beliefs
She brought me some comfort she brought me some blessed relief
She asked me for distance I granted it gladly
We both needed assistance but I knew ‘twould end badly
So with some hesitation I wished her goodnight and went home
I was thinking of a day I the mountains in France
Wondering if maybe I’d take a chance on you
Almost too good to be true

Nice song. I enjoyed this a lot. It's nicely arranged, produced and performed.

Peter,

A nice overall sound to this. Good arrangement and mix.

I especially liked the outro guitars and the interplay between the electric and nylon... nicely done...

Hi Peter,

This is another very fine song!
First Anne-Marie wants to compliment you on your rhyming scheme in the beginning of the song:

"I was thinking of a day I the mountains in France
Wondering if maybe I’d take a chance on you
And you’d take a chance on me too"

Rob compliments you on your very wise choice of RTs.
He's a big fan of the Brent Dreamy and Baritone RTs.
We particularly like your solo guitar work.

Once again very good vocals by Leon.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The lyrics were written quite some time ago - this is a new version of the song. I'm not sure I ever asked what the obscure vocals refer to - and the author is on holidays in Europe (possibly in the mountains in France?)

Thanks for all the feedback it is much appreciated. It's always interesting (and challenging) putting Leon's lyrics to music.

There's a lot to like here and the vocal and guitars are
right at the top. You chose a good lineup of RT's
to support the lyric and melody. It all works well
for me. Love the guitar tone. Enjoyed it!!

Hey Peter,
Thanks for posting. I liked the way you fit the vocals, RTs and guitars together. I also really liked the mood you set with this one, and the lyrics are a perfect fit too. Nicely done.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
