You won't hear any BIAB tracts here, but believe me - BIAB's input and influence is all over this piece as it aided me to achieve the goals I set.

In fact, it was a realization a year back that I need to adjust my use of BIAB in my practice routine that sent be back to the woodshed to help me hone my chops (as such they may be). That lead me to a new Guitar teacher and practice routine which lead to this:

Contest Entry - Melodic Melody

Wow, really nice Dan. Great melody and some nice fingering. The practice, new teacher and new commitment are really paying off for you. Good luck with the contest.

Thanks Charlie for the kind words. For the Contest, I have heard my competition and I don't stand a chance. But just competing is a win for me.

This is great to see (and hear), Dan!

You need to do this more often - "show us" what you are doing...

Did you create the backing tracks? Or were you given those to create a melody for?

Nice to see and hear the pickin' which was nice and clean, lovely melody!
My only nit is the echo/delay was a little too loud but that is just me laugh my idea of music is slightly off centre anyway LOL

enjoyed the listen

Alyn, I agree. For the intro part I wanted a big bounce of the delay. But then I wanted to back it off. That adjustment was just one push of the FireHawk effect button. But I can't tell you how much of a mental problem that was for me to do!! When I finally got a good take I noticed I have forgotten to push the button.

That oh so cool backing track was a free download for the contest. I can send a link if you or anyone finds it of value.

Really pretty dreamy music Dan!! As a film lover, I hear this as score music. The emotion is wonderful, as is the playing. Enjoyed much!! Take care. Greg

I agree with Greg -- it would make and sounds like a fine film score.

Enjoyed it.

Dan

Really top job. You definitely achieved what you set out to deliver.

I would say that you would be very pleased with your results. Mellow, easy on the ears.

Listened a couple of times already, and can certainly take more.

A total of 80 participants in the contest. Winners were announced yesterday.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AcOVGAaIbQ

I am pleased to announce that my entry was in the top 80! laugh Woopie for me. This was fun as I had never really "filmed" myself playing. It was a unique challenge and a good learning experience. I encourage the group here to experiment with a video of their performance.

Oh, and of course, thanks for the kind words of support. smile

Dan I enjoyed being able see what you were actually doing on the guitar which to me makes the experience even more enjoyable. Nice finger work! I was fortunate to be able to help a young friend of mine in a vocal contest a few years ago (all I did was record his entry demo) but he came in second in a field that was very strong in Colorado. Congratulations on making the top eighty for you deserve it.
Sonny

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
