As I looked back after my sister’s death last year and the deaths of my mother and father a few years ago, I just felt compelled to express what I went through in my mind knowing that death was upon them and that they would soon die. Saying goodbye was very hard but it’s something that we all have to face sooner or later. I wrote this song as a lasting reminder of those feelings and to remind myself of how I found peace throughout the journey.
This is a song from my Christian album.

Saying Goodbye is Never Easy

Saying goodbye
Is never easy to do
Cause the love that God created in our hearts
Is pure and true

The time will come
For all of us someday
Our hearts break when someone that we love
Is soon to pass away

The tears will flow down
As we pace the floor
Their face…we see, we see, we see and
Then cry some more

Saying goodbye
Is never easy to do
If we could we’d hold them back and never
Let them pass on through

Repeat chorus

Saying goodbye
Is not always forever
There’s a place where we will meet again and then
We’ll be together

Very well done! A sad song, and a tough subject, but you addressed it very well. Nice melody/vocal. Interesting chord changes. Personally, I would leave the real strings and not use the synth pad. I think the organic sound works better with the feel. Nice job Sonny! Take care. Greg

Sonny,

I think this is my favorite of yours so far.

The production is very nice - and the mix is excellent. The guitars sound great. The strings/pads are a good compliment.

Might be Daniel's best vocal so far, too - and the harmonies are sweet. And well recorded...

Well done!

Hi, Sonny !

What a beautiful tune !
It is easy for me to
recognize that feeling of
emptyness and sadness that
you display here ! A tune
like this can only be written
in a state of great sorrow !
I know as I had to say goodbye to
my beloved wife after 42 happy
years together !

I can still feel the pain
listening to your tune !

All the best to you !

Dani

Hi Sonny,

I'm sorry to quote Floyd again. But I couldn't say it better.

Nice work. Full and rich in my cans.

No real nits to pick that matter.

The acoustic solo was tasty. Nice stuff.

Nice engineering.

Hello Sonny,

First of all we're very sorry to hear about your losses.

We have to say that you have used your grief to create a beautiful song with heartfelt lyrics, very well sung by Daniel.

Thanks Greg, I appreciate your thoughts and I always listen to what people have to say technically. That's the only way we can improve.

I remember that this was Daniel's favorite as well. He always wanted me to keep it acoustical and to not beef it up in anyway. I will let him know what you said about his vocal on this song. Thanks Floyd for sharing.

Thanks Charlie, It is a pleasure to work with Daniel and I look forward to doing many more with him(although I have many more with him to release right now). My current status is working with another friend of mine Tami Long. We will be putting down vocals tracks to my first Christmas song this Saturday.

Thanks Tom, I will let Daniel know as well that you think this is probably his best vocal...Daniel brings what I do to life and it is so exciting to me after we finish recording to hear the things that I had envisioned be a reality. Daniel gives it the magic that I just could not do by myself.

Just said farewell to a family member last week. Your song hit home, especially...

"The tears will flow down
As we pace the floor
Their face…we see, we see, we see and
Then cry some more"

Peace.

Thanks Rob, people who write songs know that sometimes it is easier to express what we are going through by putting it in a song no matter the subject matter.

Sad yes, but also a part of life that we all face and have to deal with in our own special ways. Thanks Alyn for sharing your comments.

I'm sorry for your loss Scott. I found out through my father's death (who went first) that grieving quickly and not holding back eases the pain of looking back later. I haven't forgotten my dad but every time I think of him or mom it is always pleasant thoughts. The lines above expresse that part of grieving right before and shortly after death. Thanks for letting me know of your loss.
Also thanks for the message today.
Sonny
