Secret Town

By David Snyder

V1

I hear the rain coming down
in your secret town
I see the writing on the wall
In your secret town
I can almost see it all
In your secret town
I think the night’s about to fall
In your secret town

Here comes the young girl
Looking for a lover
Who’ll discover everything
Here comes the highway
Just like a tinderbox
To make your mind go up in flames

CH

A minor miracle
The grace to make a choice
In these secret games
A minor miracle
The grace to make a choice

V2

Here comes the dark horse
Painted like the white horse
In your secret town
Here comes the stardust competing with the dirt and rust
In your secret town
Here comes the rebel
He thinks he’s only human
He’d give his heart to anything
Just tender mercies
These loves among the ruins
Don’t you think I feel the same

CH

A minor circumstance
The chance to place a bet
On these secret games
A minor miracle
The chance to place a bet
On your secret name

Outro

Do you want me to spell it out for you
Do you want me to spell it put for you
I love your secret town, I love your secret town
I want to walk with you, hand in hand in hand in hand
In your Secret Town

Ha ha ha! Thanks Kent. I'll take that.

BUT, next time I call in for tech support, you'll have to take this from me:

"Aaarrgh Ken', ye know maaar sooon, fer ar, the blarrmyey, Real Band, er some error message, an der goon, da forch un an de oonda marda fin a Gulley de bar. Fried me finger tip.

"Canner fix 'er for me Kent?"

[Falls off bar stool and passes out. ]

Kent disconnects accidentally.

Bono walks up and says:

"Shane, are yer ok there mate? Can I help ya to yer feet?"

[Fade to black.]

David.

That's a perfect band for you for these type songs. Your vocal on this is terrific - "energetic"...

The mix is good - though I did want the drums to have a bit more "pop" and the piano to be a bit "crisper" (just personal preferences on my part).

Cool song. Sometimes left me wondering what it was referring to, but cool images throughout...

Floyd,

I think I told you I spent an entire evening sitting on the top of a burned out Pinto with Michael Stipe when R.E.M. had just started out and he gave me his opinion on rock and roll. He told me that if the lyrics make sense, it's not rock and roll, basically. He told me that country was supposed to make sense but rock and roll was supposed to be more like "stuff you remember from a dream" or something like that. Then a drunk cowboy wandered up to the car and started talking about his last two years working on the pipeline in Alaska. Michael Stipe pulled a cheap K-Mart notebook out of his pocket and wrote down every word, including the part about God telling the cowboy not to listen to Elvis. I don't think I've ever been to a better lyric writing workshop. And I was doing my very best here not to make much sense.

Man, you run at wide open all the time. The town may be secret but your songwriting and performing is quickly becoming well known.

You have a wide range of ideas and melodies that leave us guessing what's next but you never disappoint.

Enjoyed this.

As happens so often, Floyd expresses exactly what I feel in a concise way. Lyrics are very engaging but cryptic, and the sound is infectious. Love the way you change the melody as you go through the song but keep the feel that holds it together. You continue to do some awesome stuff!! Take care. Greg

This is extremely good and well put together. Your vocal is fantastic but the lyrics took it over the top for me. Your mix was spot on also!

This may be your best to date.

David, From your fertile mind, I enjoy crawling through the weeds to find what awaits me and I am never disappointed. I would have made the drums bigger and I would have brought the choruses up in pitch as well as a guitar solo after the first chorus. Of course these are all personal preferences as it works fine as is. Another fine creative endeavor. Tom

David,

I really like the up-beat, driving backing that you've put together. It's perfect for showcasing your song and your vocals.... enthusiasm and energy abound everywhere!

Noel

Very cool tune David. It amazes me how you can create these quality tunes that are so different from each other.

David,

Another incredible song from your fertile mind, David!!

A great driving tune, hood down, pedal on the floor and me singing out of tune to the song! Wind in what's left of my hair frown grin
