A little story of yet another in the string of failed attempts that is my love life! Again shouts out to Rog for his supporting guitar and engineering. I send him coal, he sends back diamonds.
There is no track listing for Rog's guitar part because he added it there and send me just the completed MP3. But he's in there!!
Lyrics
I lost at love many times before I met you There were some dreams of a romance that never came true I came to terms with myself and was happy alone I had the house and the dog but it wasn't a home
Then I met you and thought you were really the one In the beginning we laughed and had nothing but fun My life was like a blank canvas, so boring and bland You painted colors so vivid, and made my life grand
Now that you're gone I'm wishing that we'd never met It's not easy remembering how to forget
Our life together was so grand it left my heart dazed I lost the vision right after the honeymoon phase I got a look at the way that you lived day to day Soon after that I was wishing you'd just go away
Now that you're gone it feels like I just lost a bet It's not easy remembering how to forget
I'll get over you I ain't got over you yet It's not easy remembering how to forget
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.
1. How much did you make in 2023? 2. Send it to us.
Heartbreak is never easy, but the silver lining is it inspires us to write songs like this Very sincere sounding, and a lot of emotion is behind this one. You can really tell. I'm agreeing with Rog above in that this definitely has a Jim Reeves quality to it. It's got a great groove too. I really like the slow, gentle pulse to this tune.
This song was pretty relatable. I think anyone who has struggled with romance will resonate with this particular song. Pretty deep and pretty sounding. Thanks for sharing.
Windows 10 (64bit) M-Audio Fast Track Pro, Band in a Box 2024, Cubase 13, Cakewalk and far too many VST plugins that I probably don't need or will ever use
A good mix. I like your vocal on this - a good "Willie Nelson type" thing that works well - though I thought it could use more reverb (it's a bit dry).
One of your best writes, a number of solid lines...but the timeline of the story makes one question it, I think. The fact that you were "over it" as soon as the honeymoon was over and you were living together day-to-day... doesn't seem like it would be someone that would be that hard to forget. But..I like the hook.
I grew up playing music like this and made some pretty danged good money doing it! I love a great country waltz and this fills the bill quite nicely. I get a Waylon feel as I listen. The Jim Reeves analogy rings true, too. I wonder how I managed to mention those two for the same song - music sure does cross a lot of unexpected lines sometimes. Nice!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
