J.A.B.J. (Just Another Blues Jam)

For the last three weeks I've been re-mixing and mastering all of the songs that Christiane I have done over the last year, we are putting out a new CD, hopefully next week.

We ended our last CD with an instrumental, and Chris thought we should do the same for the new CD.

The band:
RealTracks in style: ~572:Bass, Electric, Blues BB Ev 085
RealTracks in style: ~578:Harmonica, Background Blues BB Ev 085
RealTracks in style: 573:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Blues BB Ev 085
RealTracks in song: ~673:Organ, B3, Background Blues BB Ev 085
RealDrums in style: NashvilleEven8^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride

Mixed in reaper with plugins from waves and iZotope, mastered with Ozone8.

Dave

Some seriously good jamming (S.S.G.J)-superbly played. Very nice arrangement.
Really liked some of your note choices and fluid runs.
A virtuoso blues piece.
Good luck with the CD.

Dave,

Nice interchanges with the harp on this. Can`t improve on Peter`s description of your fine playing: "fluid" sums it up!
I`ve no doubt the new CD will be stellar - you and Chris are a great team.

Hi Dave,

I truly enjoyed listening to this track. Amazing guitar-playing - not too short and not too long (some young guitarists are enjoying themselves too much and make way too long solos which become boring).

This is a killer-track which I hope you will succeed with - don't forget to publish it on Bandlab - the people there is very much your target group I think.

Very good job!

Dave,

WOW.

This is killer.

The mix is GORGEOUS. Each piece JUST right. Drums. Bass. Organ. Harp.

And that guitar! As tasty as it gets.

Top shelf stuff. A real delight for the ears.

Ahhhhhhh.

Dave,
Great playing! Excellent mix and most importantly(to me), not boring! which is a hard task for full track instrumental. Very energetic all the way through. Harmonica blends amazingly. For some reason, I thought it was two lead guitars talking at one point, but took a closer listen, it seems it IS harmonica smile

A very nice way to finish disc. Please share news, when it is out.

Thank you for posting!

Misha.

Thanks, Will! I don't do many instrumentals these days, I prefer working with a vocalist. But once a year or so it's nice to stretch out a little.

I have never heard of bandlab, but I'll certainly check it out.

Hi Misha,
Yes, hard to make an instrumental interesting. I try and come up with themes instead of just doing a giant solo, nothing more boring to me (now, when I was younger it was different smile ) than hearing an overly long, self indulgent guitar solo.

I submitted all the songs yesterday to CDBaby, I think it takes a week or two for it to get to all the distribution places, spotify, iTunes etc.

Fun times! smile

Hi, Dave !:))

What wonderful playing on a wonderful tune !:))
I could not even dream of reaching to your
level of lead guitar playing - never !
I started playing lead in my older days
recalling music by the Shadows and The
Ventures who were our idols way back when
it all started - and I used to play rhytmguitar !
(chuckle) !

This is simply great music !:))

Cheers

Hi Dani,

Nothing wrong with just playing rhythm guitar. Lead guitar players get all the glory, but a good rhythm player is worth his weight in gold IMHO.

Thanks for the kind review smile

It may be just another jam to you but for us it's serious ear candy!

Yes as mentioned it is very fluid, organic and the word "classy" also comes to mind.

That is one of the better uses of a harp RT that we've heard...it sits in very nicely.

Your playing and the mix are impeccable. Superb drums.

Four listens so far and it just begs for more!

This song just doesn't sound good, it feels good as well. Had a listen on the headphones. Guitar and harp were just excellent. Very well done Dave....

Thanks, Bud! Well, I called it a jam but it's more than that really. Some of the parts I worked out before hand, so it's not all improvised like a true jam would be.

I used CLA Drums on the drum track, that's a tip I got from you a while ago. I find most of the time it's all I need.

You mentioned the harp, I used CLA Unplugged for that. Very useful plugin, I use it on lots of instruments. For the harp I find it helps it sit in the mix better.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
