rhodes piano my composition a small amount of reverb
key Am

the song was written 12 years ago just at the end of a long marriage

so who'd you think you are
to cause me all this pain
late nights not sleeping
again and again
and all those years together
through the wind and rain
why cant we just hold on
and maybe start again

because we're strangers in the morning
we're strangers late at night
we need to pull ourselves together now
and make it right ..

so here we are together
the calm before the storm
and both of us pretending
love doesn't matter at all

why can't we reconcile ourselves
and put away this foolish pride
there's so much left to give now girl
just buried deep inside

but we're strangers in the morning
we're strangers late at night
we need to pull ourselves together now
and make it right

but where did we go wrong
and does it matter anyway
cause what we have's worth fighting for
day after daay

{solo}

i still carry your photograph
can't seem to throw it away
it means that much to me
more than words could ever say..

i just need to hold you
so please don't push me away
well throw me a life line baby
before its too late

because we're strangers in the morning
we're strangers late at night
we need to pull ourselves together now
and make it right......
yeah were strangers in the morning
we are strangers late at night
but if we pull ourselves together now
we can make it right...
yeah we can make it right

thanks for listening

Hi Bob. Great first effort. One small piece of advice - try to take advantage of the intro feature in Band in a Box.
Good job on the production. Great story line behind the song.
Well done and welcome to the forum. Rob

Hi Bob
and welcome to the forum.Like all the instruments you used in this production .Great opening song on the usershowcase.Biab is such a great tool and im sure you will enjoy all its features.I think if you are not just into one genre you get the most out of it.
I like a whole list of genres and their are a few I dont like for instance Jazz or Rap but it means I can pick the Genre right for the song or should I say most right for the song and Biab provides the instruments.Hope to hear more songs and dont be a stranger lol H

Bob (jeff?),

This is nicely done. A very cool sound. Like a mellow Boz Skaggs. Or an Ultra Mellow Lou Reed.

Cool song. Nice instrumentation. And a good "talkin'" vocal. All mixed well - so that each instrument plays a part and stands on it own. Nice piano...

Enjoyed it.

Welcome to the Showcase.

Hi ...

Welcome to the PG Music Showcase. Good to have you!

And yes, this is a fabulous piece of music generation software. I've been using it since 2011 and still know less than half of its full potential. But I keep plugging away and doing the most important thing, in my opinion .... experimenting! I sopend an hour or two almost every day experimenting with the various features, options, styles, etc.

This is a very good first effort Love the backing tracks! You picked soem excellent tracks for the song. the only thing i think that might improve the listen is to bring the vocal a little more forward (louder) in the mix. not a lot ... just a wee bit. Again, great song for your first post! I hope you enjoy the program as much as my wife and I have. keep at it ... you;re off to a great start! Wishing you the very best ...

Alan

hi thank you all so much for your kind words, the name is jeff but for some reason biab forum wont let me use my own name or maybe im missing something.. but anyway yes the software biab is very good i have 12 or 15 songs from over the years but they were made with old sound-fonts so i'm looking forward to converting them with my new band (BIAB) LOL. the 1st one above took 2 months to get just right so i have a couple years ahead of me, but just like most of you it's a labour of love and one i'm looking forward to.

Really well done - and welcome to the forums! It flows smooth as butter and I thought the groove was awesome. Nice vocals on it too. The whole tune has a nice calm, laid back vibe that I really connect with.

Can't wait to hear more from you - thanks for sharing smile

Cheers,
Deryk

First song here, but not your first song...THAT'S obvious. smile Welcome to the forum and that was a great entrance.

To me this song, the overall feel and mood, could easily be a Dire Straights song. There a style set for that; but I looks like you didn't use it, so that's pretty amazing in my book.

Really well done. Keep 'em coming!

dayo, man that was a great first post!! That song has a great feel to it even though the subject matter is sad. That's the great thing about writing music, letting us express our deepest feelings! I have a feeling we will hear more great stuff from you soon! Take care, Torrey

Welcome!

As HTL mentioned there is a Dire Straits vibe with this and, in our book, that is a good thing.

It's a melancholy write but it's presented in a creative and different way.

We enjoyed it.

You're going to love the BiaB journey!

I'm new to song submittals, but an old BIAB user. You're picking it up much faster than I did. Everything on this is pretty well done, and as you get more comfortable with it, it'll get even better. I think the vox are a little laid back, but that too, will improve with usage. Keep doing, you'll get there! I rarely sing myself, unless it's a novelty tune. But every so often, I try a tune out. Again, very well done here.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
