Hi guys, I flew out to India for work a week ago and today is the first day without anything to do. So I thought I'd take the time to work on something I started just before I flew out. I wanted to do something slightly different to the ones I've done so far, but I know it's definitely got a bit of a 90's pop vibe to it!

I had a bit of a play about with the Waves Doubler and CLA Effects plugins in this one. I like them and think I can do a lot with them. I also used a few samples from Splice in it as well, I'm trying to work on making any samples or recordings I make fit in with the rest of the mix. Any feedback or tips on this would definitely be appreciated.

Style is _RNB_POP.STY (R&B Pop w/ Electric Piano)

Lyrics:
I wanted
To walk this world alone
I didn't want
No-one to tie me down

But you appeared
And you opened my eyes
The way I feel
Is like you got me hypnotised

I feel that energy flowing through ya
Put your hand in mine while we cross the line yeah!

I thought everything
I needed was here
But I'm not gonna settle - No
I wanna go to the next level
I don't wannabe free
Ohh-no
Cause I need your love
I need your love

Now you are
All I think of at night
And your calls
Make every morning seem so bright

If I knew that
Love could feel this way
I'd never put
Those barriers in your way

I feel that energy flowing through ya
Put your hand in mine and we'll cross the line yeah!

I thought everything
I needed was here
But I'm not gonna settle - No
I wanna go to the next level
I don't wannabe free
Ohh-no
Cause I need your love
I need your love

I felt this from the start
Ohhh I never want us to be apart
I need your love

I feel that energy flowing right through ya
Put your hand in mine and we'll cross the line yeah!

Everything
I had wasn't enough
Won't settle
Make the next level
Ohhh
Ohhh
Cause I need your love

I thought everything
I needed was here
But I'm not gonna settle - No
I wanna go to the next level
I don't wannabe free
Ohh-no
Cause I need your love
I need your love

I definitely am picking up that kinda 90s vibe you were talking about. Great job on this one!

Richard,
Interesting tune. Definitely in 90s spirit smile

I think, if you add one or two more phrases "I need your love" fading at the end, it might make the "ending" more rounded.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha.

Enjoyable listen. Love the timbre of the vocal. Agree with Rustyspoon - spread the love out a little longer in the end.

I'm not too keen on the hard panned vocal effect in the verses - partially because they're not sonically different to the main vocal (thin em out & raise the pitch to harmonize perhaps?) and becasue they, sort of, compete with the main vocal.
Good ideas though.
I'm glad you like the CLA pack - I'm not keen on his mixes so am not inclined toward the pack.
Waves...they all kill my computer.
Well done thus far.

Cheers

Hi Richartd ...

Definitely 90s Pop-Rock to my ears. And there's nothing wrong with that. Interesting but nice vocal treatment. Love the backing tracks, particularly the bass line. Thanks for a real nice listen. Wishing you the best ...

Alan

Richard,

This has a good groove and the arrangement fits the genre. I`m no expert on this kind of pop, but could hear some high harmonies working.
At first I thought the key you chose was a bit low - your voice sounds good where it is though and with some tweaking of the ending you`re radio ready.

Guess I was a bit late to the punch, but if you decide to make the tune public again let us know - I think I speak for others too when I say I'd love to hear it!

Thanks for taking the time to listen Joe. I appreciate that feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Deryk, the link should still work. It's set to a private link as I havent shared it completely publicly yet. But you should still be able to play the song using the link.
