https://soundcloud.com/torrey-bliss/take-me-awayA little tune I wrote this week about longing for home! I ended up playing most of the instruments on this to make it all fit. The one instrument I reluctantly played was the pedal steel (actually played on my Yamaha keyboard). I just couldn't make the realtracks fit the tune so I went ahead and played it. This will probably be my last one for a while because of everything going on in my life right now. I hope someone enjoys the song! Lyrics fit the tune really well. Nice vibe!
My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile

You've constructed a really solid, smooth bed for the melody Torrey. The vocal performance is excellent - always assured and seemingly effortless. The disembodied backing vocals work really well & were a nice surprise. A yearning narrative and your golden tones. ACE

Excellent!!
Sounds like a track that could have been on a Steely Dan album.
Man, such attention to detail! Lots of subtle stuff going on.
Loved your vocal those background vocals at 2:40 or so sounded great.
Good beyond good!

Superb in every way. Man, this song really does take us all away with you. Can't say I know you, Torrey, but I really love what you do, and hope to see you doing more soon.

This tune expresses the longing perfectly, lyrics work on many levels. Wistful voice, nice chording and harmonic band complete the package, the pedal steel has nice sound and the melody it plays is an enjoyable addition. I hope the "cruel taskmaster" is not taking all of your time this year Janne

Dave's reference to Steely Dan was spot on.
The more melancholy hints in the lyric lead us even more so to wish you the best for the year given your statement.
Longing, wistful and soulful indeed.
And, it almost goes w/o saying, it's all wrapped in a fine mix that sets a great soundstage.
Best to you!

This is SO beautiful in every aspect. Loved the background voices - the chorus is inspired. To be honest, I can't really analyse this one because I just sat back and listened, it is that beautiful - so I can't and can't bring myself to pick it apart in the name of an "analytical critique". Just know that it is a genuine "hell yes" from me - and I wish you the very best with whatever life is throwing at you lately. Thanks for this track - it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right time.

I am really impressed with your musicianship.
There is a lot to like about this song. Melody, singing, songwriting. The production is so beautifully textured.

Wow Torrey, this is a very good one from you. And I thought I heard all your good ones before. Its also the first time I use the word 'wow' in a post ever. So its very special when that happens! Of course I also tried to listen if you made any mistake in it, but forgot to concentrate on that, because of the attraction of your terrific song. Have I said 'wow' before?

The steel guitar sounds great! Actually, it all sounds great. Love the jazzy chords - I'm a sucker for the maj7 sound. Great harmonies. Glad you could sneak in a song before you disappear for a while!

Great recording. I love the instruments you play. Good use of BIAB too. Lovely melody and vocals. Sounds like the golden age of 70's hits. Well done. I hope all goes okay for you. Let the music take you away.
