Dark CloudsI've not been around much lately ... Di's relentless Drs' appointments plus having a new house built. I've only commented on half a dozen songs, or so, lately but will attempt to do more listening and commenting over the next couple of weeks, hopefully longer. This is a song ... a power Blues guitar instrumental ... I put together a while back. Open to any and all suggestions/comments. Thanks in advance. Please be safe ... It sounds quite a bit different than the original BIAB style. That's one of the great things about BIAB ... it's versatility and capabilities for customizing an original sound.

That's a cool tune. It's the kind of song that makes me want to grab my guitar, dial up a boutique hi-gain model and wail away.
Well done.

Hi Alan,
Indeed, a long time since. I missed you on the forum and commenting my songs. I thought I must have done something wrong, but you were only building yourself a new house. Quite a relief. Except Di's problems. I hope things are going well now(?). And they must be, because you made a very cool/strong song with Dark Clouds, although the title points at the opposite. i hope that is not the case.
About the song: As I mentioned, very cool or strong. The leadguitar played the stars from the sky. I mean that! There is only one thing I miss in this beautiful song. Vocals! When the song starts I immediately started humming. All the time the song continued, I heard that dark raspy voice singing about his lady. But without that it is still that beautifull song I mentioned before. Very well done!
Keep building and send Di my best wishes, Hans

Very good to hear from you again! I myself also had a break from this forum because of some unfortunate circumstances.
This song is really pleasant to the ears.. nicely mixed and produced - I enjoyed listening and I hope many more tracks will be uploaded from you!
Thanks for sharing! Will

Sounds very moreish. Perhaps even Gary Moore-ish. Nice guitar tones well strung together.
My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile

Alan,
WOW. That sounds good!
Every aspect of this is a stand-out. The drums sound great - loud and proud, but not overdone. The bass is warm AND punchy - a great combination. The synth pad is perfectly mixed - "just there".
And what a SWEET guitar! Can we assume the entire thing is the BritPsycPopBallad? Did you add processing to the RT? It sits perfectly in the mix. And it sounds amazingly "coherent" - like it was performed JUST for this piece.
The mix is outlandishly good. I've already listened several times and plan to listen several more...
You create instrumentals that are WORTH listening to...
Awesome.

Just fabulous, Alan.
It's as though you knew exactly what I liked and then set out to create it!
I can't find fault with anything - the chord sequence, the instrumentation, the mix and that haunting guitar are all just right.
When it gets dark, I'm gonna play that again with the lights down low. In fact, I'm gonna put it on repeat play.
The new house sounds exciting - will we get photos? Take care, old friend and all the best to Di as well. Stay safe. ROG

A great feel, Alan. Good luck with your house. We're building too and were supposed to be done early May. Hmm. Keep 'em coming. You never disappoint.

Just hauntingly beautiful band and the solo guitarist is amazing, difficult to believe this is coming from BIAB - and of course your chords and mixing makes it even more radio friendly ear candy, this should be the Band-in-a-Box theme song or at least one to market it!

Well done. Hi Herb ... Thank you so much. I kind of modeled this after Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues". But I made it just a busier and increased the tempo a bit. I didn't put quite as much distortion on the guitar, either. As I said, his song was inspiration ... didn't want it to sound too much like his ... just a slight reference. Thanks for the nice comments ... much appreciated. Be safe, my friend. Alan

My vocals are more suited to Pop-Country and Ballads. Again, many thanks for your very kind comments! Wishing you the very best ... Alan

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
