After Hours in the Big City
An alto saxophonist, guitarist, and keyboard player walk into a bar at closing time. The bartender locks the door, pulls the shades, turns off all outside lights, brings up a couple of cases of beer and the guys jam with members of the house band. This is a jam they put down just prior to getting totally drunk. BiaB style = City Night SW16 Smooth Jazz Tempo = 75 I deleted the guitar track Bass = Ample Bass - YingYang Drums = SSD5 DeLuxe 2 - Deluxe Rock 5 Piano = Presonus-XT Presence - Rhodes Ballad - I slightly modified this track Strings = Kontakt - Cupid's Arrow I am playing the guitar - Jay Turser Jazz Box And via my wind controller - Swan Alto Sax and Kontakt Trumpet Master
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Can I have the address of that bar. Funny thing I'm in the middle of writing a drinking song as well. Nicely done Mario. Plenty of light and shade. Great composition. Rob4580

Will you slow down, man ... some of us need to catch up with you!!! :-)
SUPERB. So laid back ... just relaxed and enjoyed. All I need now is a drink by my side and I'm ready to listen to it again ... :-)
It's a privilege to hear your stuff, but do give the rest of us a fighting chance every now and then, eh? ;-) Actually, don't, of course ... I want to continue to hear you at your best.

Thanx for this superb review. I had a little time as all of us have been under quarantine for the last 2 weeks. Quarantine is over but it is so easy to compose songs with BiaB so who knows when the next one will come along.

This is an excellent track from a bar that I would very much like to know the location of. Well produced and inspiring to listen too. You never disappoint, Mario! Will

I deleted the guitar track That made me laugh! I get the feeling you post these to show that MIDI can still be competitive with RealTracks. And... you're right. Smooth and easy listening. Everything sounds good to me!

Smooth and easy listening underneath, and a little tipsy. But those two-horn duet lines are pretty dang boozy. Smile-inducing stuff and had me "there".

Everything sounds good to me! Thanx David. I have been working with MIDI since the early 1980's. I have more fun working in MIDI and playing my instruments then cutting and pasting audio. I'm not knocking anyone who does that its just not my thing. I am glad that people think MIDI can be competitive to RTs. They both have there places.

fj Thanx so much Floyd. A couple of years ago I won all of Ample's basses. They all sound great. I'm glad that I won them as I surely couldn't afford all of them!

Oh, man, I want a job with that house band. Great sounds. So well done, Mario. Wonderful feel and timing. Ok, let's hear the song they played AFTER they got drunk. Ya know, Motown turned out some good music with after hours jazzmen, too.

ha! Mario, I enjoyed your text setup to the song! Very clever way to sage the audience's expectations. David Cuny recently commented on one of Floyd's songs about how expectations affect how we hear a song. I agree. You can use expectations to guide the audience or to throw them a curve ball... but either way they have an impact on the listening experience.
LOVE the horns in this! Makes me want to write a song specifically so I can put horns in it.
I'm guessing the backing is BIAB and then you played all the solos? Great job! The intro story about the musicians in a bar jamming makes it easy to visualize each of the players you are acting out in this story.
Very clever. Well done my friend! I am impressed by your many and varied talents

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
