Sorry to double post, but I just wanted to get this one out to my brothers across the pond!

https://soundcloud.com/user-619066495-714650428/fight-the-good-fight-vocals

"Fight the Good Fight (A Celtic Christian's War Song!)"
Ephesians 6:12 Timothy 6:12
Intro (Softly)
The enemy lingers at the gate
I tell you what he lingers for
For our souls he lies there in wait
Soldiers, get ready for war!
Verse 1
Gird on your the belt of truth
Strap the Sword of the Word in its place
The breastplate of righteousness too
Take up your shield of faith
Put the helmet of salvation upon your head
Shod your feet with the gospel of peace
And in times of fear and of dread
Be fervent in prayer and never cease

Chorus
Don't be afraid when that ravaging lion roars
Use the full armor of God in all its might
Stand courageous, steadfast and sure
Brothers and sisters fight the good fight
Brothers and sisters fight the good fight

Verse 2
Warriors, we must understand
Listen to the words of the wise
Our war is not with flesh and blood of man
But spiritual wickedness in places high
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal ones
But mighty through God casting strongholds down
Resist the devil and that coward he shall run
Weapons formed against you thrown to the ground

Chorus
Don't be afraid when that ravaging lion roars
Use the full armor of God in all its might
Stand courageous, steadfast and sure
Brothers and sisters fight the good fight
Brothers and sisters fight the good fight
(Respite)
Brothers and sisters fight the good fight
Brothers and sisters fight the good fight

I really liked your vocal on this one! You actually sound like you are in command of a huge army that is going to war. Brilliant!

Two thumbs up.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

The line "Shod your feet with the gospel of peace" might be worth reviewing...you're creating an image of feet wrapped in bibles. it'd be a tad disrespectful I suspect.

The vocal affectation works for the intro and might even do for the verse but the chorus needs something to lift it from the war monger's rhetoric and old testament imagery into some form of hope.

Without some sort of modulation, dynamic change or new instrumentation it's a relentless, dour 3+ minutes BUT it could be easily redeemed with a few simple changes so that it becomes a journey rather than a forced march.

Cheers

Hi rayc,

Thanks for taking the time to listen. Below are a few references concerning the "Full Armor of God"

The "Full Armor of God" is a "New Testament" concept quoted by the Apostle Paul.
Do you realize that when the apostles spoke they were quoting the "Old Testament"?
The "New Testament" didn't come along until about 2 centuries after the Apostle Paul's death.
War monger? You bet! We are all in the battle of our lives.
A spiritual battle with an adversary who only knows to kill, steal and destroy.
Hope was always there in both the New and Old Testament...

Thing is, to someone who is not in your choir, the message here doesn't come across as especially hopeful. It's all just about stomping the other team (whomever you believe that comprises, presumably some of your listeners.) Change the language very slightly and this could be a war song about human conflict or a football game.

Always happy to listen if the music is worth it.
FULL ARMOUR of God is warrior analogy that isn't really appropriate in relation to the mission of Christ is it? It's certainly not the sort of language and story telling to attract children to the message. The miasma of stories that make up the old n new books are from era where life was of little value, people saw no hope in the life time and would die to escape the living hell that societies were based on for the promise of a better "life".
The text is the text and you're very personally committed to it - a way that won't translate of communicate well I suspect but it's your sail and mast.
How about the music? I'm interested in the music not your message.
Did you consider any suggestions about making the boat more seaworthy? Of making the journey more comfortable?

Cheers

You do realize that Yeshua (Jesus) came the first time as a suffering servant and he's coming back as a conquering king? He's coming back to conquer all of the evil things that have been done to God's children. I can't think of a better thing for any child to know. I would rather have a child know about the righteous might of God than the evil Godless things of this world like Harry Potter or Walt Disney...

Yes, Bob, I know your perspective and understand your fixation as well as your desire to ignore anything contrary to that, but you've missed the communication part.
Now, back to the music...how about the dynamics...there's only so much pneumatic hammering from the ideological/dogmatic tool set before the entire tarmac breaks under the strain and the labourer falls into a sink hole along with the chariots. Any chance of an oasis of calm or maelstrom of minims to allow the listen to prepare for the part two?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
