As usual, any comments, suggestions welcome. LYRICS (autobiographical) When I was young they said I was a dreamer Living in a world of fantasy Conjured up by my imagination For the real world never seemed like home to me A secret life of risk and high-adventure Of battles won and deeds of derring-do Rescuing fair maidens was a noble occupation And I lost count of all the dragons that I slewCame the day my dream-like state was shattered Emerging from that deep complacency For sharper than the teeth of any dragon And more fiery than their breath - is reality Those who were most dear to me were leaving Although they did their very best to stay Goodbyes were said, tears were shed, just broken hearts and pain Then, suddenly, they're half a world away. They say for everything there is a season And one sweet day my life was turned around No longer is it my imagination For my feet are planted firmly on the ground My trusty steed has been put out to pasture My sword and shield are relics of the past This maiden rescued me from my false reality And truly made me feel I'm home at last. Yes, truly made me feel I'm home at last.

Thanks, Andi. I appreciate your feedback. I've been trying to put lyrics to a dozen tunes I composed in recent months and got absolutely nowhere. This new tune came to me yesterday and I added the words this afternoon.
Take care,
Ghostgum

Wow Ghostgum! What a song...I love it! Your vocal is excellent with the perfect processing! Those acoustic guitar choices really set this one on fire! The harmonica is the icing on the cake! Great work! Thanks, Torrey

Ah, for a "dreamer" you REALly created a wonderful song, Ghostgum. The lyrics are so good as are the changes. There's a magic in there, Brian. Well said and sung.

Very cool vocal. Sounds perfect framed by the acoustic. Very cool lyric. Reminds me of Robert Cordrey's lyrics. Well done

i like the intimacy of the song. it reminds me...and let me say in a very very good way... of walking into a coffee house and your singing this song live. the vocals are perfect for the song style imho.
ITS A GEM OF A SONG IMHO.

I think we can definitely all relate to that sense of wanting to lead a fantastical life and inevitably needing to come face to face with dreams not being quite what they seem or what we were expecting. The best thing we can be in life is happy, and the rest is simply cherries on top. Thanks for sharing this here on the forum! Lovely song.
Cheers, Ember

"A secret life of risk and high-adventure Of battles won and deeds of derring-do Rescuing fair maidens was a noble occupation And I lost count of all the dragons that I slew"
An excellent write fully of wonderful imagery. The nice vocal and mix elevate it even further.
Ember beautifully stated the nature of your song. It's hard to add to that other than saying we much enjoyed it.
