Hello forum friends. I have been away for too long......just one thing and another. What a pleasure to return to such wonderful songs and people! This is a kind of Bossa blues.....not sure if that is really a genre or something that I just came up with. I always love emotionally tragic songs, and I thought Earl sang the heck out of it! Hope you enjoy it, or at least are moved to some emotion by it. BTW, recently I noticed happy birthday wishes from a bunch of folks here.....THanks so much.....this was a BIG one.....65.....OMG!!! Take care. Greg

Rainin So Hard

Well It’s raining
So hard
I can barely see across the yard
Yet the butterflies are gliding on the breeze

And the birds can still sing
Unencumbered by anything
Guess the world is fine
Up there in the trees

But In my heart, there’s rain
That gloomy everyday is Monday pain And the weatherman inside
Says there’s no sun in sight

And I miss you
So bad
Ive never, ever known
Love like we had
And I know I never, I never will again

We all suffer I know
But I never knew how deep this hole could go And I’m falling, falling, falling
In a space without end
I know tomorrow will come
And maybe with some time I’ll just get numb I’ll suffer until then
Cause I know you’re not coming back again And I’m drowning in the rain

Hi Greg & Earl,

Ooh La la - that is a beauty!

Wonderful sparse backing and terrific vocals.

I would be most interested to know which vocal Mic you used and also the effect settings - we can all learn some new tricks from this quality performance and recording.

Best Regards
Nigel

Is this your song Greg?
I assume so but the Utub vid doesn't credit you.
A song of mine had a collaborator on vocals and she "released" it through Distrokid...it appeared on Utub and elsewhere credited solely to the singer. I wasn't particularly happy about that.
It certainly is an emotional song with all sorts of future tragedy implied.
The arrangement is very cool - dark, smokey, sad.
"Well It’s raining
So hard
I can barely see across the yard
Yet the butterflies are gliding on the breeze"
ACE, really cool imagery.

Cheers

What a lovely song, Greg!

Beautifully sung and a band acting great. Like it very much.
You have a very nice voice, well suited for this type of songs.
I was drowning in the melody...

Hello, Greg. Yes, "I miss you so bad." Haha. That's what Earl was singing as I started to type. What a tragic song, indeed, and so well sung. I love the bossa feel, and as far as I'm concerned everything stems from the blues. wink The melody floats nicely on the changes. Really good write for sure. Take care, Greg.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Great writing and sound. I might call it kind of a bluesy jazz, but I would think that everyone would call it good. Nice one.

Wow. Nice!

Perfect backing tracks (a bit Tom-Wait-ish).
Perfectly mixed.

Earl knocked this outta-the-park.

SO good.

Greg...this is terrific...perfect in every aspect...and yes it's raining here in Illinois as I'm writing this so I'm feeling it! what a great vocal and yes the sparseness of the track was just what was needed...blues that feels good...top shelf for sure!

Fab song, fab lyrics ... the singing is out of this world. One of the best produced songs (in every way) that I've heard on here. Congratulations to all.

Smooth!

Earl’s vocal timbre and power remind us a little of Michael McDonald - nice.

The band has that laid back, smokey blues nailed.

The lyric and mix just add to the goodness.
BTW, what tracks were you using?

Great collaboration Greg & Earl!

J&B

PS You might have missed it but we did a Gershwin jazz/pop song a short while back that you might like smile

Hi Greg ...

Earl knocked it our of the park for you. A passionate and convincing vocal. But the best singer in the world can't make a poor write and arrangement sound like a winner - and you gave him everything he needed to make this first class all the way. Great job by both of you. A passionate and compelling listen.

Hey - 65 ain't so bad. Mine and Di's next birthdays will register at 76 years. I can remember when Harry Truman was president!!!

Happy birthday and best to you ...

Alan

Awesome piece of music Greg. The vocal was stellar but I must say the backtrack instrumentation and production were stars as well. Heart wrenching lyric. Well done

Greg & Earl,

This is one fine piece of music! The backing is the perfect vehicle for the lyrics! Earl's vocals are right on the money all the way through and very emotive! Nothing is out of place here anywhere! Greg, I must say that I could also easily imagine you singing this as well. I know that you would also knock it out of the park!

Thanks, Torrey

Thanks so much Nigel! Always love your stuff! I'm not sure what Earl uses.....I think he has a Rode NT-1, but he may also use other mics. Take care. Greg

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
