Hi everybody. Crazy week, and it ain't over yet. I promise, promise, promise to catch up (as much as possible) with listening to everyone's songs ... at the weekend. Promise :-) In the meantime, though, just wished to post this one ... I've just finished it, so ... hopefully it's worth it, haha. See what you think? :-)

A special thanks to PG Music on this one - the sound of this background track (apart from the guitar solo, of course) was EXACTLY what I had in my head BEFORE looking for a style. You're miracle workers.

Missing You

LYRICS:

I tried so hard to tell myself
That I was over you ...
I tried so hard to trick myself
To think that we are through ...

But baby, darling, we both know
That this is not the end ...
And, though we both wish to deny
That which is self-evident

I've been missing you
I've been missing you
I've been missing you
I've been missing you ...

In this unique relationship
Where we don't know our thoughts ...
Where we're so scared of ourselves
And of each other's doubts ...

It feels sometimes I have to scream
Inside me, to be heard,
But I will do it, if you, too, dream
To come back home ... you have my word ...

I've been missing you
I've been missing you
I've been missing you
I've been missing you ...

I've been missing you

Universal theme presented well in a touching story. Excellent sounding band which plays even those strange but enjoyable chords without a murmur. The guitars create a nicely flowing rhythm, coincidentally sounds quite like another "Missing You" song, by John Waite. The mix is very good.

Thanks Janne. Really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment. The John Waite song was brought to my attention by Deej, about a month or two ago. Maybe my subconscious has been playing tricks on me? Who knows! Anyway thanks for your very kind comments!

James,
The pulsing DADGAD guitars underpinning give this some different shades...maybe a little darker than the mood would otherwise be, and I liked that.
The chorus repeats in your spoken style are fine as you deliver them, though I found myself hearing them sung!
A good capture of your vocals (with perhaps a little more de-essing called for) and a nice mix.

Is the streaming platform you`re using new? How do you like it?

"In this unique relationship
Where we don't know our thoughts ...
Where we're so scared of ourselves
And of each other's doubts ..."

That is an interesting take on the "parting of ways" theme.

And the guitar mashup worked well also!

And you wrapped it all in a nice mix.

James you are the master of spoken word over adventurous chord progressions.
This is your best to date in this genre IMHO.
Super guitar lead.

Two thumbs up.

Hello James ...

I've been telling you for over 2 years how good your spoken word songs are. Just one more piece of evidence in support of that claim. Super lyric and arrangement. The lead guitar was spot on. really nice!!!!

Robert: thanks so much for listening and for your kind comments! The platform ( hearthis.at ) has been around for a few years. I prefer it to Soundcloud because they would charge me £10 a month, whereas HearThis.at only charge around £3 to £4 a month ... and the sound quality is not inferior, so, for me, it's an easy decision to make :-)

Peter: thanks! Thanks also for taking the time to listen and comment!

Janice and Bud: you always notice the lyrics that I, too, prefer most :-) This was meant to convey the thoughts of a couple who are apart from one another, and wondering whether to get back together or not, hence the wondering (yet not knowing) of what the other is thinking. I left it deliberately more vague than that, but thank you for noticing the lyrics!

Mario: thank you! Far too kind!!!

Alan: thank you so much. You always write so nicely about my efforts, and it's seriously amazing to hear such nice words from musicians such as yourself, that one genuinely admires. Thanks again!!!

James,

The chugging guitar is a nice addition to your BAND.
There is a odd, dissonant chord that hits every once in a while that seemed out-of-place. (first instance at :48)

floyd: Yep! There's an augmented chord I really wanted there, but somehow the band keep missing it, no matter how many times I re-generate the track. I shall have to re-do the backing track! Thanks for spotting that! and thank you for listening and for your nice comments!

Torrey: thanks!!! So glad you enjoyed it :-)

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
