I notice that the user showcase forum seems to be limited to showing only the last 3 months of posts, (8 pages) while other forums seem to have many more.

Over half the songs I've posted are no longer there. Is everyone else noticing this? Are they just limiting certain forums to a pre-set time limit for viewing?

Curious,

Greg

No mine were all originals that were posted (I think) last June thru September, but now the posts only go back to the middle of October.

Could be the new forum software lost something in the transition ..

I think rharv's right. I just tried to look up an Off Topic forum from a while back and it won't come up. I had even saved it as a Favorite and it still wouldn't come up.

So it seems to not be limited to User Showcase. Obviously the recent forum change has a time limit for older threads.

Hope this helps.

Hi Greg,

I noticed that long before the forum software transition, the User Showcase forum was limited. Personally, I like the restriction. It means that my songs don't stay in the public domain for an unlimited amount of time and so there's less likelihood that someone will take my work and try to pass it off as their own (assuming that one day I might write something above average!).

When I used to post links to my songs in the Off Topic forum, before the User Showcase forum existed, I would usually remove the song from my website after about 3 months because I wanted to maintain what control I could over my original works.

Regards,
Noel

Hi,

I for one was grateful for the restriction of older post disappearing. I posted my songs back in October. I didn't get much feedback except some very helpful tips from shockwave. I deleted my reverbnation account and songs about a week later to save further embarrassment. I had wanted to delete my posts but at least my posts dropped off after a few months. I guess I'll stick to having fun with my music in the basement and archiving my songs on a storage drive in case I want a laugh later on. At least BIAB makes me "sound" better.

Interesting. I didn't realize things were dropping off. It may be an automatic pruning setting too. They may prefer it that way. I prefer threads not get pruned, but more than that- I want to be able to edit my posts at all times. I do not like that you can't edit a post after a short amount of time. Not good.

PS- Rod, glad I was helpful but I hope I didn't ruin your confidence. I can be pretty no nonsense when I post a critique. I don't remember your song, but don't give up EVER on your work or your progress. Not because of me or anybody. Keep creating and keep posting the work.

Yeh I've noticed the drop-off. Tend to agree with Noel. This is a pretty vibrant forum - no need to keep things posted forever. If you want to keep your works "in sight" I suppose you could do a "Songs I Posted in 2010" review.

Continually editing posts is like revising history - each conquering army creates its own version of the facts. I like things the way they are.

Hi Ian,

I totally agree. This forum has become incredibly vibrant and it's good that change constantly occurs - new people, new ideas, new songs. I like it!

Noel

Hi Dan,
You didn't ruin my confidence at all! No, on the contrary, you were very helpful. I knew I wasn't that good at this before I posted my music. I really appreciated any tips I can get. I guess, I'm at the level of ability that I should just listen to other people's creative work and production before posting anything I have. I will always be creative and BIAB is a great tool to be creative with. I guess I'm a home music enthusiast and I realize for me, my music should stay in the house!

Thanks,
Rod

Everyone is different. There are good reasons to be able to edit your post at times. Not continually- that's exaggerating. Especially with song postings. It stinks not to be able to edit an original post of a song if the version changes, as an example. Makes it confusing within a thread. Spelling errors...things like that. Not being able to edit feels really archaic. Oh well.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
