Well, I wasn’t grabbed by that opening sequence of chord changes. But thereafter, this one was a bit of a treat.
I raelly like the tone of the vox and the judiciously chosen backing instruments, which provide just the right level of depth.
That’s one seriously catchy chorus, just the way I like them!
Also, very well done for setting quite a bleak lyric to an upbeat musical setting. The overall effect is one of hope which I guess was the effect you were looking for.
There are one or two points which perhaps could be improved.
Starting with the lyric…
I found some of the lyrics a little awkward with repetitions that added little artistically the ‘loved ones’, all those ‘seems’ and, in particular I found the ‘miss them’ / ‘wish for them’ lines rather clunky.
Also, this could be me, but I find the 2nd verse problematical. Specifically, I don’t see where the sacrifice comes in.
Musically I feel the lead gtr part could use a little work. It’s as if its always searching for a strong hook that fits, particularly after the key change.
Also for me, the ‘quietened down’ ending section is not a huge success.
But overall I really enjoyed this one and will definitely get round to listening to some more of your stuff.
Regards,
Marc

You are most definitely NOT wasting your time. Great track. The modulation could have been a bit smoother, but it's tricky to get just so with software. But really- a great track. And remember, no matter what anyone says or doesn't say- if it works for you it's not a waste of time. The crime would be to waste the talent. Keep 'em coming.
