Internet Friends was a song dedicated to the recently passed Kara of Kara-Moon. I was working on it prior to my music computer crash. I rewrote the song after I was up and running again.

Knowing that Kara was a keyboardist and a bassist I tried to do my best keyboardist and bassist imitation I could, knowing I could never out do the master.

It started in BiaB using the style Pop Ballard Style 4 insts that I modified into this. I’m playing keyboards on the first lead sound, wind controller on the second lead sound, nylon string guitar and bass.

I hope I’ve done it justice.

I must have been traveling when this occurred, and therefore was not aware of this very sad news. Such a young man. I assume this was discussed here in the forum back at the time since his influence did extend over into our forum.

MarioD - Nice of you to put together a tribute, well done...

--------------------------- From the KVR Site --------------
It is with a huge amount of sadness that I have to announce the passing of our great friend and musical influence … Kara.
On 13th April at the age of 52 Rony Steelandt, known to all of us as Kara, suffered a fatal heart attack.

A consummate musician whether as a solo performer, as a duo with his wife Azell, or with his regular live band in France he has been known mostly as the influence behind www.kara-moon.com and it's associated forum.
A few years ago after the demise of 'the auditorium' music forum he and his brother, Moon, decided to start their own auditorium as a replacement to showcase musical talent from around the world. They set up K-M and encouraged other musicians to join their forum with the main objective of promoting collaborations. They went on from there to establish personal artist pages which, in turn, led to a number of CD productions of recordings from the associated members.

Apart from the obvious heartbreak that this has brought to his immediate family, the loss of Kara is going to leave a massive hole in the lives of the many musicians who have been inspired and befriended by this wonderfully helpful and generous man.

The very last recording that he uploaded at kara-moon was this medley of Fats Waller tunes, played straight from his Tyros with no edits. Pure virtuosity !!

RIP Kara, mon ami.

Hi Mario,

I found this a very soothing listen and it sounded to me like a wonderful, personal tribute. What I liked most was the way that the music developed. There is a great deal of musicianship evident in the playing, arranging and production. I'm heading back for another listen now.

All the best,
Noel

Thanx jazzmandan, Noel and Bob for listening and the very kind words.

PS – I’ve been on vacation/holiday and landscaping my yard. Thus there hasn’t been much computer time.

I have been very busy with work and school and have not been to K-M in a while; this is extremely sad news about Kara. He was a very generous and talented guy, what a tremendous loss.

Thanx TommyC!

Rharv, yes this is very sad news. Ronny helped me a lot and I thoroughly enjoyed out collaborations together.

I did not know Kara, but I am sorry you lost a friend. The song is a fitting tribute, very melancholy. Excellent production! Thanks for sharing, and again sorry for your loss!

Mario,

Great job on this one! I joined Kara-Moon shortly before we lost Kara, so I never really got to know him. But I agree with the sentiment here that this song is a very fitting tribute. As always, your excellence shines through! Keep up the good work.

Steve

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
