Hi Guys This is the first song I've written on BB only got the program a week ago. Please note Iam not a singer like some on here but a pure songwriter. The Piano on this track is PJONSAC Medpopballad SoloAC.Piano (110RS) The vocals recorded in Studio One 2.5 and mixed mastered on the same Mic is an Octava 219 through a focusrite platinum Tone Factory pre amp. Hope you enjoy Any comments appreciated MP3 - Darren Hughes - "Dance With Me Again" - https://soundcloud.com/darren-hughes-5/m...ghes-dance-with

Well, you sing pretty well for a non-singer! Nice composition, I've never just used a solo piano in a song, I've always mixed in other things. Maybe you could try some percussion or bass here and there to add more complexity to the backing track (of course, I am known for throwing everything into a song -- so be careful following my advice!). But your vocal arrangement had a lot stuff going on.
Very well done and welcome to the world of BIAB.

Hi Darren
You have a really nice unique voice. Your singing is very good.
I like your song a lot. I think it is extremely well done and current.
When you are doing only a piano and vocal if the song isn't good it will show big time.
Your song comes across so well and is very melodic.
I really like where the melody goes and the way one vocal trades with the second entering the chorus.
Would love to see the lyrics. Great work!

HI Darren I loved the way you wove the vocals together. Personally, I think you are a singer.

Hi Darren.
Too modest by far - you sing like a professional. It's so good to hear someone who isn't scared to put emotion into the vocal and act the song as well as sing it. This is what's important and it's why this song is so good.
It's a fabulous song and such a good start for your first contribution. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do when you've had BiaB a while longer.

Darren,
Welcome to the forum!
For a guy who "is not a singer"... that's some pretty cool singing! And a pretty cool song, too. One of the most "musical" songs I've heard in some time. That is a real talent - writing "musical" songs - songs that "really sing". Looking forward to more...

Hi Darren,
This is one great first BiaB song. It sounds like you have been a songwriter for sometime now!
I agree with the others, you are a singer. In fact you are a pretty good singer so what ever you do keep singing.
I also liked the lyrics, excellent job on that.
Excellent job on the arrangement also. Personally I like the solo piano-backing track so I wouldn’t change it. I think one of the reasons this works is because of the fact that you are a good singer who puts emotion into your songs.
Two thumbs up.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Hi Guys
Believe it or not your comments have increased my confidence in my singing (head swelling). I just don't do much of it and mostly use other singers hence I don't feel as polished as someone who sings.
I am a songwriter (this is about my two hundredth song) so yes I didn't want to miss lead by saying this was the first song I've written, it's just the first using an element from(BIAB).
I haven't used soundcloud for long if you have a soundcloud account please follow me and I will do the same.
regards
Darren

welcome to the forum, and well, if you are not a singer I'm a second base for the Yankees. it sounded very good to me, and yes, I'm not really a singer, that's why all my songs are instrumentals. And the piano accompaniment for this kind of song is very appropriate for it IMHO, so I wouldn't change anything. Well done. Keep'em coming.

Thanks cuban and gibson
I think you guys are so kind, when I hear the song I hear what I believe to be wrong with my vocals since I usually work with pro singers. I have only ever sung my own demos but never any final masters for distribution.
I will welcome any criticism not for its own sake but constructive as I have used this self criticism over the years as a way of improving my work.

Hi Dazzman,
It's two vigorous thumbs up from me. I really liked the solo piano accompaniment. It was a perfect fit. Great work!

Welcome and congrats on your first BB/RB song!
I enjoyed your song. The vocal got more comfortable as it went along with a strong finish. Personally, as you grow and learn the program, I hope you redo this with more instrumentation and a full pop arrangement. IMO, it's a good song but the simple accompaniment doesn't do justice to the nice melodic and rhythmic changes.

Thanks Josie
This song started out like the Bee Gee's "Jive Talking" (lower tempo) believe it or not.
I write so many songs that I loose my mojo for a song like this one. If I can get it back I might have a go at a full BIAB production. If someone likes the song they might cut it their own way and save me the agony lol.
Will post some more songs shortly, keep up the great comments guys and don't forget "never be afraid to suck" (Suck= American slang for "Be Rubbish")

You are very brave, Darren, to sing to just a piano accompaniment. Might be interesting to hear this fleshed out as the song progresses with other instruments and an RD track later on too. Well Done cheers ian

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
