Here is an older one I just finished re-mixing, it's all BIAB, except for the rhythm and lead guitars. The lyrics are on the page, for this forum's convenience.

What Are You Waiting For?

There is a line in this song that some women do not find terribly amusing, although it was indeed put there to make people smile, including women, and is product of fanciful desire, and not actual practice, on my part. Once, I quoted it to a female musical artist on ReverbNation, to see if she might think me somewhat of a clever fellow, and she responded by saying, "Just so you know, I have a partner.." That was the last I heard from her..

Women, are strange creatures, they claim in their personal adds, for example, and damn near uniformly, to want honesty and a sense of humor from a man, but when you go ahead and try to give such things to them, 99.8% of em, run for the hills. Or, such has been my experience, at the least.

At any rate, my 'Grammy' contest song entry, I told folks here about, seems to have failed to attract the interest of any of the celebrity judges, or the 'curators'; as it turns out they had been ineptly named (as far as I can discern from their selections), as they seemed to mostly have favored the loudest and weirdest stuff they happened upon. Speaking of 'loudness', I am sure people here know of the 'volume wars' taking place in the music industry these days, and how it seems nearly impossible for a song recorded on a home computer to match the mastering sound involved with an analogue studio recording. Well, I simply went about ignoring this factor during the contest, despite that so many of my peer's songs, sound-wise, just blew my entry out of the water. It was almost like I defiantly neglected to attempt to raise the volume of my recording to match theirs. This, in retrospect, was a very big mistake I made, as it turns out the winners chosen, were all twice or even thrice as loud as me. Lesson learned, however, as I have since cranked the volume of my all my recordings with almost reckless abandon. Beginning, actually, with my song 'Key of A' (which seemed to have gone over well in this forum in the past) which I subsequently, entered into a different contest, run by the same 'Grammy' (or The National Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences, folks) called the 'Center Stage'. I am hoping my lack of production experience, coupled with my limited recording resources, will be offset, by blasting my humble creation into everyone's ears.

This latter-most contest page, can be viewed here:

Key of A

Instead of using the mixing techniques I have been practicing lately (such as I used on the song entitling this thread), I just decided to run every track, smack in the middle, just as it was, when I posted it here, and to crank the volume of it a hell of lot louder, in order to try to match my competitors, or to compete within the 'volume war'.

Incidentally, I am making no excuses for myself, as far as these competitions go. In the first contest, just ended, I simply did not end up singing my entry to its potential, despite a herculean effort on my part to exceed my all too familiar vocal limitations. I thought, with the pressure on me, I could somehow stay in key while singing it with the proper emotion. But, although I came close, my song, was just not sung good enough, even in my own estimation.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
