Been some time since I posted a new song on the forum, I got the idea for this song while I was practicing the songs for church. I was playing the old hymn I Stand Amazed in the Presence and these lyrics just started flowing. A reminder to anyone interested in trying the 50/90 Songwriting Challenge it begins Next month.

The style is from the John Jarvis Pop Piano set

Med Pop Ballad Solo Acoustic Piano #1729

I Stand Amazed

Robert,

Your writing gets stronger all the time. This is very nicely written. You need to be pitching this to some Christian recording acts!

Great job. I stand amazed....

Robert,

your song fits well in the CC genre... not surprising since you are well familiar with the songs that tend to get played in churches every Sunday and Wednesday

Your vocal seemed a bit lower than the piano (as heard through my PC speakers)

Also the vocals seemed to have less reverb than the background... which DOES have the effect of making them distinct, but it also (to my ears anyway) separated the two sounds enough to make the mix less cohesive

Having said all that, I just LOVE the song itself! Great words and a fitting set of accompanying chords!

I like this.

While the piano is good... I would have personally brought more instrumentation into the second verse and hit it full tilt on the chorus. But that's just me.

Nice writing.

I was thinking the same, of course while I was also thinking this was a beautifully written, and very strong song.

Nice job Robert!

Hi Robert.

A really nice song. Like Herb and Danny, when I hear a piano track like this one I always imagine it's going to do a Bridge Over Troubled Waters and throw in the 56 piece orchestra on the last verse. Having said that, I think the arrangement is strong enough to stand on it's own.

One thing I might have liked to try is moving the key from G up to A. I thought it might be a more dramatic key for the vocal, without pushing you into Smokey Robinson territory!

Really enjoyed the track. Nice to see you posting again.

ROG.

Yes, it's amazing sometimes what a simple one step higher can do for a singer's voice and the song.

So easy to do with BB.

Robert,

This is one of the best songs you've written. I agree with Pat that the vox was just a titch low and dry to me but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Strong song.

I want to thank everyone for the feedback, and the suggestions. I will raise the vocal and add some re-verb and then re-post. I originally was going to go with just a flat top as this is the instrument I wrote it playing, but then I heard the great piano from biab and decided to go with it. I did try some ensemble pieces, but it seemed to take away from the meek feeling of the lyrics, me bowing before my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and being in awe of His love. I love a good band, and I love that build you can get when all of the instruments play in chorus, but my favorite times in a performance is when the artist sits in the middle of the stage and sings with only his or her instrument, I went to see Third Day and they are a great band, but the best part of the show for me is when Mac Powell their lead singer left the stage and came out into the audience on a little riser and performed with just the guitar. I have a live album of Stephen Curtis Chapman a REMARkABLE guitar player, he was already playing with Chet Atkins as a boy, and it is the same thing, he launches the show with a full orchestra of the song The Great Adventure, and I do mean orchestra, but then later in the show it is just him on the guitar and singing, that was the feel I was after, thats when I decided to go with just the piano. Just offering the thought process behind going only with the piano. As always all feedback is welcome and appreciated! God bless!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
