Hi Everyone.

I've only just joined the forum, but I know all about it because I have lessons with ROG. I'm learning singing, songwriting and guitar and this is a song which I've written during the lessons.

I can play enough guitar to write the basic song, but I need help when it has to be recorded into Power Tracks, so on this one ROG is playing guitar and Alex is on bass. I've also got Josh, who you probably know, helping with backing vocals.

I Think It's Fair To Say

I think its fair to say
I got feelings, can't explain
And I sometimes get confused, but I know
One thing for sure, how much I feel for you

My heart pounds in my chest
'Cos the answer's always "yes"
And I know there's nothing now that's better
What have you done here, I'm head over heels

When something's not right
I know you'll be there by my side
And I know that nothing will change
And the feelings will just stay the same

Give me a teddy bear
But you know it won't feel warm
And it won't get up at night
To see if I locked the door or turned off the light

Thanks for listening and all comments are welcome.

Holly.

Holly,

Welcome to the Forum! Looks like you are a good student (and ROG is a good teacher)!

Nice sound. Good job on the vocals, and I like the song! Thanks for sharing it!

Holly,
ROG and the gang can certainly lay down a song,
Music Prof seems to be a little hit factory nestled in the beauty that is York.

The drums sound really nice, how are they done?? Are they live, Real Drums or programmed with samples?

+1 to the other comments,

Alyn

Hi Alyn - Because Holly recorded this during the lessons, we used our drum synth. It's basically a sample player using our own samples and programmed up in MIDI.

Holly - Well, I liked this a lot, but you already knew that! Time to start working on the follow-up.

Hello Holly & Rog !

I am a little late to the party
but luckily it is not about "sero
venientibus ossa" "bones for those
who arrive late" if I still remember
anything from my latin studies (LOL)!
In any case my congrats to all involved
for a most enjoyable performance !:)

Holly,

This is terrific. If this is the "beginning" of your writing and recording efforts, I can't wait to see where it goes from here!

Nice sound and very catchy!

Holly,
this is an absolutely wonderful first song on the forum! I bow to you and to your masterful teacher!

Now I think you and the other students should be bugging ROG to set up a USA vacation with gigs planned all along the itinerary to pay for the trip.

Nice job on the song.....

However.... a few nits

The vocals could stand to come up a fair amount in the mix. I found them very hard to hear.

I would be careful with the vocal doubling. If not done right it sounds amateurish and unprofessional. It's possible to do good vocal doubling at home and in smaller studios, but many people simply don't get it right.

Which tracks in it are BB/RB?

Hi Holly,

I'm incredibly late to the party with this song. Sorry.

I'm sitting here listening as I type ...

Ooooooooo .... I like it smile

Here are some of the thoughts that have popped into my head: "very clear voice", "excellent singing", "well designed and catchy melody", "Josh's harmony works real well", "love those moments of descending bass line", "ROG's productions are incredible".

You should be very proud of your work. In addition, everyone involved has my enthusiastic round of applause for a great job!

Definitely more please smile
Noel

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
