This one's a country pop A/C tune. Recorded in Realband and mixed in Tracktion.

Josie, Just listened twice, going back for a third. The key change for the chorus is an ear twister and I kept wondering how you would resolve back to the verse, but you pulled it off and brought me back for multiple listens. Very unique chord structure. Nice breaks at the bridge and last chorus. Bravo!! Tom

Hi Josie.

It's always a good start to the day when I see one of your songs on the list!

The lyrics are super - they're very clever and the hook really does hook into you.

I love the sound of your voice and it really suits this song. Everything's up to your usual high standard. Going back for another listen.

ROG.

Thank you for the kind words Dani. The arrangement is new, the song was written just over twenty years ago. I still haven't found that heart either. smile

Roger,

Thank you very much. I sang it in my upper register to fit the flavor of the song better and have a little vocal fun.

So glad you like it.

Josie,
+ 1 to all the above posts as I also look forward to your songs.
A lovely song, nice vocals, harmonies and the key change fits perfectly to add that little WOW factor.
You also seem to have a little ear-worm factory grin

thanks for sharing

Ahhh, Josie.. what can I say? I'm so envious of your song writing ability! One of these days I'll get the nerve to post something, but you and the others just keep raising the bar before I get to where the bar used to be.

Anyway, nice job. It's interesting to hear songs written from a woman's point of view.

ah, so that's what was different! Perhaps I'm not being open-minded, but to me that made the song sound like somebody else was singing it, and I wanted to hear YOU singing it! (and of course, it IS you, but I'm old and set in my ways and to me Josie has a different voice than that)

But, in spite of my own personal weirdness, I LOVE the fact that you would experiment playfully like that! It says a lot about who you are creatively. I respect that trait in an artist.

Good tunes are written around a good hook...and that is a fine one. I like the genre busting selection of Realtracks. Breaking out of "styles" really opens up BIAB. Nice production.

Hi Josie,

Congratulations to you and Charlene on coming up with this one. It's excellent. I can't believe that it was written over 20 years ago!

What I find most interesting is looking at these lyrics through the lens of Pat Pattison's knowledge. At the time you wrote this, you probably hadn't even heard of Pat and here both of you are writing a lyric that is an outstanding example of everything he says about "balanced" versus "unbalanced", "stable" versus "unstable", and "motion creates emotion".

I love the verses' rhyme scheme AABBCCDXD. Because you and Charlene have used mostly non-perfect rhymes for the couplets, it makes them sound really fresh and it doesn't draw attention to the fact that they are rhymes. That they are not perfect rhymes is also a great way of lyrically supporting the song's emotional quality. In addition, that seemingly humble little non-rhyming second last line is, from the perspective of motion, lyrically so very powerful; it cleverly disturbs the pattern of couplets that you've clearly established. What a great destabilising device! To my ears, it shouted out "Pay attention! Something's going to happen" - not only because it doesn't rhyme but also because it creates a verse with an odd number of phrases. You sure sent me flying headlong into the chorus! How cool is that!!!

Like so many listeners before me, I'm now heading back for another journey through your song.

Best wishes,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
