Wrong Is What I Do Right

I’m going to tell you a story

One that haunts me every night

I’m going to tell you a story

One that haunts me every night

It’s about losing you baby

You know wrong is what I do Right

There’s no flowers growin in my garden

and the birds don’t make a sound

There’s no flowers grown in my garden

and the birds don’t make a sound

There’s no joy here in this livin

There’s no joy when you are not around

I didn’t mean to mistreat you Baby

You know I’m fit to be tied

I didn’t mean to mistreat you Baby

You know I’m fit to be tied

I’m losin to my weakness

You know wrong is what I do right

Now thats what I call grind it out hard core blues! All that maybe missing is some Hammond baby. Nice gritty raw solos and solid backing, I liked it a lot. Nice mix to, everything sits well. Good job.

+1 on the blues, I'm feeling 'em now myself. Your vocal is very good (you might consider bringing it up a little more.) Love those double stops, nice riffs, clean, great tone. Excellent performance.

Hey Tommy...

Sweet sound!!!!

Love the edge on your axe...great sound! And the lyric probably speaks about more than few of us....sure does me. Blues in a minor key just grabs the listener and pulls him/her right in.

Backing tracks are spot on and you have a great mic here. I'll repeat what I said...sweet!!!!!

have a great night...

Al

Now there's some hot licks to heat up a cold winter night. Very live sitting in the club feel. Cool title/hook too Tommy.

I like the mix but thought the vox were a little low compared to the guitar - just me.

Great job.

Tom,

Awesome!!! One of the best mixes I've heard in these here parts (or anywhere else). SOLID!!! Drums are excellent. Solid, solid bass. Rhythm guitars right where they need to be. Pro studio stuff.

Stellar lead! Gorgeous tone. Beautifully lyrical...

The first two lines of the vocal could come up a couple dB. After that, it sits nicely in the mix...

And... a cool song. Good write.... this is GOOD!!!!

Rick, Thanks for listening. I lived in Chicago for many years and the blues is in my blood. Thanks for the comments.

Ole, You're right about the vocal. Thanks

Al, Thanks I appreciate your comments.

Josie, I lowered the guitar a bit, and I probably will go back in and raise the vocal. Thanks

floyd, Thanks for your generous review.

John, Kinda like cheetos. A little tasty, but you don't feel so good after large doses.

Alyn, Thanks for checking it out.

Dani, All those feelings are 25 yrs removed, but I remember. Happily married for 21 yrs this time. I think time helps you to deal with the ghosts. Tom

Hi Tommy,

great old blues. The vocals fit perfectly
and I like your crying blues guitar playing.
Somebody complained about a missing Hammond,
but I heard one. Am I nuts?

Hi Tommy
Yup - I hear that old B3 in the mix. Might have liked it coming up higher in the mix and "crying" like they do. And wouldnt it have been great in PG had a RealTrack of B3 Hammond - SOLO Blues?
Great blues number and as the man said "Stellar" guitar playing.
cheers
ian

Bob, That guitar tone is the combination of two great finds. I recently discovered a little known collectors item- an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul, made in Japan with American electronics and hardware. Only made 4 or 5 years 01-06 and I like it better than some Gibsons I played. The other piece is the outstanding plug-in S gear by Scuffam Amps. Designed by a former engineer from Marshall it has all the dynamics of an overdriven amp , runs two amps at once, the attack and decay are very realistic. Some killer presets. This is something I have been looking for for a long time. These two items are far and away the best things I've bought in years. Free trial on Sgear-every guitar player should get this, you'll love it. I also used Alloy2 on the individual tracks and Nectar on the vocal. Mastered in Ozone using 4 of the 7 modules. Thanks for the listen and the comments. Tom

Herb, Thanks for listening. 65 degrees here.

Guenter, I brought up the B3 since that first comment. Thanks for commenting.

I tried it higher but there seemed to be too much going on in the mids so I opted to keep it lower than I usually would have. Thanks for the kind words.

Ian, Thanks for checking in and for commenting. I appreciate it.

Tommy -

That S-Gear thingy looks interesting, but I just spent my entire 2014 amp money on a Sovtek 12AX7LPS tube for my Classic 30. Maybe next year! grin

Tommy,

Just got to this and did not read the comments above so excuse me if I repeat anything.

#1. The guitar tone, feel and expression was excellent!
#2. The lyric was classic blues!
#3. The performance brought it all together!

Summary: This was an outstanding blues production and performance.

I totally agree.

I love the blues and this is absolutely fantastic.

Great chops man! Great vocal also.

"There’s no flowers growin in my garden
and the birds don’t make a sound"

Now that's the blues man. No birds would be blue but birds that don't sing? That's the real blues. It's really hard to add anything to what has been said -- particularly what floyd said....but we'll try. Blues is not an affectation with the two of us -- we listen probably every day to blues and have for decades. Instrumentally and lyrically this song nails the genre. Seriously.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
