I posted this song a while ago. There where some comments that where very good constructive criticism. I used some of that input to rewrite my song. No I didn't make any major changes, but! I made it a little longer and tried to use as much of the what, when, where, how and why. I originally created this song during the songwriting course with "Pat Pattison" then I developed on it after the courses. So, any other constructive criticism would be very greatly appreciated. I will go back into my BIAB template and post the BIAB info later today. The whole song was formed in BIAB 2013. So, if you have any other helpful hints I may apply them to that. So here is my song.

Crying For My Love At Night

Well done! I think someone with a more gritty rock voice may be able to carry it across a bit better, but it is catchy and interesting. Take care. Greg

This is top shelf. Great job on revamping this song.

Is that you on the guitar?

A list of instruments used, either RT’s or organic, would be nice.

Nice sound. I remember hearing this several months ago. From what I recall, this sounds better than the older version. Thanks for sharing it.

I did do this song several months ago. I just made some changes to the lyrics, and added a section. I changed the style, and added a different lead guitar. All BIAB though. I think this turned out very nice. I was not able to post it though because of some internet problems. I now have a blazing fast connection. I will also be posting up most of the different ones that I had done in the past, and some new ones that I have recently done. Thanks for the compliment though. The internet problems that I was having is, is that for quite a while I had to go back to a dialup connection and could not load any videos. But I am back with a very fast connection so once I get the songs up I will be leaving them up.

Hi,

I remember this one as well. I think this version flows much better - nice job. You have a great vocal range. Your overall sound reminds me of Styx. Good job.

Oh and to get the weird sound effect on the guitar I brought all the tracks into "Music Creator 6" and used a "Multi Voice Flange" 12 voice to be exact.

Hi Trapper

Nice one. A good strong vocal and I liked the effect that you used on the guitar. Good job

Pretty good tune. A few things I would consider:

1.) Maybe try it a step lower. You seem to be singing at the top of your normal range the entire way through.
2.) Dynamics -- I would work some on adding softer and then louder sections (I know I need help with this myself).
3.) The video is too jumpy with changing pictures every line. Maybe get more on the page or do some smooth scrolling.
4.) Harmonies? They almost always help.

Good vocal!

I like the changes and it's a very good production. Cool guitar sound and you have some great pipes. I do agree re dynamics. I know nowadays dynamics don't seem to be in vogue....but no matter what the genre I'm, FWIW, all about the music breathing some.

Enjoyed it!

The guitar had me thinking Bryan Adams. You have a good song here and you're getting the most out of the RTs.

You might try doubling the lead vocal with a delay to give it more energy or punch?

Hi Trapper...

We didn't hear the original but this sounds great! Isn't it amazing what we can do with BIAB??!! The modern American guitar lead is perfect. Great song!

When I was younger Styx was one of my favorite bands. I was told that a lot. That I used to sound like the guy from Styx. In performing throughout my life with band's or just keeping up on my skill's with performance background's I did sing a lot of the Styx music over the years. Because I was a child of the 80's I can hit very high notes because that was the type of music that I had listened to. I can go low, like let's say white snake or real high like skid row. I was once told by a professional singer that I have up to a 5 octave range. I am most comfortable singing down in G or C. I think that I do my best there. But whatever sounds good is really where I sing at. But, Thank-you for the comment Tommy. I love it when my song's sound good.

Thank you Dannie. I appreciate the comment. I am pleased with what I can get out of BIAB. What I do is save my songs as separate track's, raise the volume if needed. I do not as a rule of thumb apply any effects All tracks are dry until I get them into my "Desktop Audio Workstation" that is where the magic takes place, because you can tweak and mix or whatever you do to make it flow like you want it to.

I will take these suggestions under consideration. I will use your tips and create another version of the song when I get the time and re-post sometime in the future.

Pretty good tune. A few things I would consider:

1.) Maybe try it a step lower. You seem to be singing at the top of your normal range the entire way through.

for this one I have a 5 octave range with my voice I can even sing with a former rock singer that was in a band called "Skid Row". 80's Heavy metal band. But I will take your suggestion here.

2.) Dynamics -- I would work some on adding softer and then louder sections (I know I need help with this myself).

Suggestion for you, to do this all you have to do is pull each individual track into a wav editor and raise or lower the volume of your tracks, this always works for me when I am very particular of how I am recording.

3.) The video is too jumpy with changing pictures every line. Maybe get more on the page or do some smooth scrolling.

I can do this? I may add another video of me just singing the song live.

4.) Harmonies? They almost always help.

I am just learning harmonies, so sorry for that. But, I do have the ability to do that in BIAB and I will do it in the future videos. Thanks for all your suggestions they are good ones.

Good vocal!
and last but not least thank you for your compliment. I have been singing since I was 10.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
