Another FAWM ditty, just try to get that CD together (finally!).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
she don't know the way I feel
(c) Emmrich 2014

she don't know the way I feel
It's just something in my head
I've gotta get out
I've gotta get out

her favorite color's a shade of teal
sorta color blind, might as well be red
I can't make it out
I wanna make out

(bridge)
maybe I'll ask her to go on a little walk
tell her we gotta have a little talk
about nothing at all
'bout nothing at all

she don't know the way I feel
It's just something in my head
that's driving me mad
too many words unsaid

(bridge)
maybe when we're a little bit older
many days and years from now
we'll laugh about this fear and doubt
but right now I wanna shout

she don't know the way I feel
gotta convince her I'm the real deal
can’t just be in my head
she wants to be more than friends

she don't know the way I feel
might just be in my head
it’s gotta get out
yea, gotta scream and shout

Kevin: acoustic guitars, vocals, bass (tag only)
BIAB: bass (~532:Bass, Acoustic, Pop Sw 085), percussion (tag only -- I don't know what I used -- ha, ha!)

I love the organic feel of this! It has the natural feel of an old Neil Young record. Really interesting rhyme scheme in first two versus. Never seen it done before. The song really grabs me-no other way to say it. Take care. Greg

Loved it!

I loved the natural organic feel to this. That said, it would probably be perfect as it sets. Me, on the other hand, I would have a look at making some of the lines flow more smoothly, as in a few places it sounds like you're rushing to get all the words into a limited space.

I like that it says what it says in 2:12... that's nearly unheard of these days. A 2 minute song? Brilliant work. I would attempt to make a few small changes to make it flow, like I said, but don't lose the natural feel of it or stretch it out in the process. With some tweeks, this could easily be a contender for a coveted spot in a "chick flick" movie....

Yeah... I like this a lot.

Wow, that song is right in our wheelhouse -- the lyric, the vocal and the arrangement. It's got that whole "singer/songwriter" evening feel to it that we love. Reminds me of some of the great shows back in the 1990's when luminaries would sit around in a circle with minimal accompaniment and throw great stuff at you. We listen to a ton of "Americana" and "Roots" music and this will fit right in some of our playlists. Maybe along with Kevin Welch. Bravo!!!!

Kevin,

I can't quite describe what it is that I like about your songs, but you have such a unique sound that it always catches my attention. I think you should seek out singer songwriter festivals and apply to perform. What you do is a good match for that sort of venue IMHO.

Kevin,

A delightful song. Very enjoyable to listen to. Good recording - there is an intimacy to your productions/recording that make your songs/lyrics shine.

The guitars sounds great. The leads are nicely musical - and tastefully placed. Just the right amount.

Vocals and harmonies - also nicely done.

And a good write. Nice work.

Kevin,

I really like this song. It's well written and so Kevin. You really own your style and it's got a retro yet modern edge to it. I'd fix where you're rushing the words.

You should consider going for some tv placements in singer/songwriter stuff. I think you're unique and good enough to pitch a few in that ballpark which I hear pays pretty good.

Hi Kevin

I agree with what Josie says. If you wanted to give it a try, you can have a look at the following sites

Scott: Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

Bob: Thanks for stopping on by and giving it a spin.

Greg: Sometimes rhymes can be too far apart to actually be rhymes (ha, ha). I think I pushed the limit on this one a bit! Thanks for the kind words.

Guenter: I always appreciate that folks take the time to listen -- thanks.

Herb: yes, I have heard that a couple of lines need some smoothing out -- thanks for chiming in on that point. For the past couple of FAWM's and 50/90's, I go in thinking "hey, let's try and do 2 minute songs" -- but it is really tough, mainly because we over-write (and I want solos in there!). But some songs do seem to come close. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Janice & Bud: Thanks for the super kind words! yea, I seem to be targeting that "americana" sound nowadays. Have you noticed, though, that americana is a pretty wide definition. I guess americana is today's "indie"!

----------------------------------------------------------
I'll come back for the others a bit later.

Hi Kevin ...

So nice to hear a song form you again! Every time I listen to one of your songs, I feel as though I'm sitting on your back porch back there in VA and you're singing for me. There's nothing to not like about this ... everything melds so nicely. You did a really nice job on this in every way. Kudos!!!

Dani I: Thanks for stopping on by and for the kind words. It is not everyday I hear a Simon and Grafunkel comparison (ha, ha)!

Charlie: Thanks for taking the time to listen and post a few remarks, always appreciated.

Pat: That would be a nice thing to do -- however, I am not that excited by performing. Heck, I haven't been on Streetjelly in forever! I need to get practicing my songs again, though. If I could get into a small combo, that might be fun. Playing by myself just doesn't do it for me!

oleman: Thanks for coming on by and commenting!

Floyd: Thanks for the kind words, it is always pleasurable to post songs here and then read all the nice things -- true or not (ha, ha).

Sundance: I think I can cut one or two words in that main trouble spot. I did try once, but then I always hesitated and rushed the rest of the words out (LOL!). But practice makes perfect. I'll give it another whirl.

JosieC: Every once in a while I go through the taxi listing and see what they are looking for. Nothing I got ever seems to fit (ha, ha). I think I'll just finally put a CD out with this one as the last song. I don't expect any sales, but it is just a goal of mine anyway. Plus if I don't put the CD out, I'll just keep tweaking the dang songs. Of course, the CD is up to 14 songs and 40 minutes. I wanted to keep it at 12, but after FAWM, I am having trouble cutting two songs (does anyone put out a CD with 13 songs!).

Dani II: You came back again! Must have not been that memorable (ha, ha). In any case, thanks a lot for the re-visit.

Eric: Thanks for taking the time to give it a spin!!

Al: Long time no talk to! I'll have to give one of your new songs a spin today. Thanks for the listen.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
