Just finished this song for all the old guitar players. Used BiaB _CWALTZ SlowCountryWaltz w Piano (85 RS) as the main style, as I recall. Also used waltzes for fiddle, steel, etc for the lead fill-ins. I sang the song and played guitar on this. Used Sonar X2 and various plugins for mixing. The strings are from Dimension Pro. Ozone 5 for mastering. Would appreciate a listen and any feedback you have to offer. Thanks. https://soundcloud.com/sparkplugjohnny/the-old-guitar-player

Enjoyed this. Great lyrics and backing. Liked the vocal but found it a bit harsh in places. Nice sentimental feel. Cheers.

Hi Charlie
I enjoyed it. A very interesting lyric that I can definately relate to as an old guitat player still waiting to be discovered!

RichMac, thanks for listening and for your comments. Glad you liked it. I put another version up trying to get rid of any harshness in the vocal.
JosieC, thanks a lot for listening and your comments. I, too, am one of the older guitar players waiting to be discovered.
John, thanks a lot for those compliments. Glad you liked the song.

Hi Charlie Superb. I wonder how many of us ID with this? Loved the lyrics. We've all been there - at least I have - empty halls and lack of interest, unless you are under 20 and if female, half naked. Wonderful stuff, Charlie. Great BB backing and good guitar work from you too. cheers ian

I'm sure many old guitar players can identify with your tune. I seem to hear reminiscence of 'The Last Cheaters Waltz'.
Beautiful song and nicely done!!!! Keep-em comin'

What a great song Charlie. I'm on the fence with the harmonies but I really love the rest of it.

The song arrangement knocks me out. I like the way you wove the guitar, fiddle and steel together throughout the song. Your vocals match the theme of the song; I can't imagine how the song would sound if it was sung by someone else which means you really nailed the vocal. To me the harmonies are not needed but do not detract from the song. In my mind, the set is over, the crowd is gone, the ballroom is empty except for you honoring the memory of an old friend. Sweet.

Hello Charlie,
Nicely done, and very nostalgic. Cool vocal harmonies, and a proper use of the pedal steel guitar.
