Oh I wish i was heading home again to sweet Gal of mine.
I wrote to you to wait for me hope I'm home on time.

I can see your homestead lights coming into view hug you and a squeeze you first thing I will do.

You'll be mine for ever more till the sun refuse to shine.
The stars will see how deep I love you so and they will know your mine.

We will go a dancing and do si do you giggle.
Will will move according to the fiddle.
You will pass on bye me and I will pass you too.
Watching how the old folk's tend their brew.

The rivers stop when they see your grace the willows bend and bow.
Birds wont sing when your passing bye they seem to know somehow

I can see your homestead lights coming into view hug you and a squeeze you first thing I will do.

You'll be mine for ever more till the sun refuse to shine.
The stars will see how deep I love you so and they will know your mine.

We will go a dancing and do si do you giggle.
Will will move according to the fiddle.
You will pass on bye me and I will pass you too.
Watching how the old folks tend their brew.

This is a nice folk/americana piece of work. You did a good job on the mix and I really enjoyed the harmonies. The strumming rhythm was perfect for the song. Nice job all around. Enjoyed my listen.

What Charlie said! That banjo and guitar combination is perfect for the song!

I like the fact that you substituted whole verses for "doo doooo", that's not something that gets done here on the forum very often, but it works very well in folk styles.

Another thing I like quite a bit is your choice of words. I don't know if these are commonly used phrases in Oz, but the following phrases are new and interesting to my ear:

"do si do you giggle"
"move according to the fiddle"
"tend their brew"

I also like the use of personification, in which ...
the sun refuses
the stars see and know
rivers stop
willows bend

If you had used it once, it would have been interesting, but the fact that you used it throughout turned it into an element of design, and that is very cool.

Great tune. You vocal delivery was perfect
for the feeling and the mix is very well done.
The lyrics are also a great match for
the style.

A big FWIW: A couple of minor suggestions
based on my decades playing and mixing bluegrass.
(Yup, that was all Janice and I did prior to BiaB).

Consider bringing up the mandolin rhythm and put some
heavyish reverb on it. The mandolin "chop"
is really prevalent in this style. Also I'd consider
using the simple version of the rhythm banjo
since it playing through the song and Vestal
is a "busy" picker.

Just personal as the mix as I mentioned is nicely
put together as is.

Enjoyed it - a lot!

Rob,

A good listen. Bud's got ya covered on suggestions - he know more about that stuff than any of us...

The mix was very good.

The harmonies are quite nice. It had a bit of a Statler Brothers feel/sound to it... nice.

You are a writing machine...

Hi Rob,

I like how you bounced the pan of the acoustic guitar from right to left channel in the first verse. Very interesting.

Hello Pat.
You always have such great comments.
I always look forward to hearing from you.

Australia is very steeped in American culture
Square dancing use to be very popular here, so I am am familiar with some of the lingo.

I have been trying to write more for an American audience lately.
That's where the willow comes in, although we do have willows here as well.
Thanks again Pat.

Hello Janice and Bud.
I love you comments also.
I have really learned to love bluegrass over recent years.
I find it a great medium for story telly.
I'm like a sponge when it comes to your advice as I really want to improve with my bluegrass song writing.
I've gone ahead and made the adjustments you recommended.
I will realist it soon.
Regards Rob

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
