Here is a new recording called Typical Guy . I wrote it awhile back and just got around to laying

down the tracks and putting it together over this past month.

BIAB Style is _SZFLSH2.STY (BritInvaion,2ElGuit,bass (140RS))

RealTracks in style: ~1010:Bass, Electric, BritInvasion Ev 140
RealTracks in style: ~499:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm StoneZ Flash 1 Ev 140
RealTracks in style: ~505:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm StoneZ Flash 2 Ev 140
RealDrums in Song: RockClassicBritEv^3-a:Snare, Closed HiHat , b:Snare, Loose HiHat

Comments and suggestions always welcome.

I stand accused of being a typical guy
If that's really how you feel, well I wish you would tell me a lie.
I wish you'd say I'm special to you
and that you feel the same way I do
and that you'd love to give our love a try.

Now, I confessed I love you in that red dress
and I told you true you look so good in blue
when you where the pink one, well I nearly come undone
and that short black leather skirt it makes me hurt

A typical guy would rather hear you tell him your sweet lies
Doesn't wear your skirt, but it still hurts
La la la la la la la la la la la

Sometimes I wish the shoe was on the other foot
While we're on the subject of those lovely feet
There a treasure of you like everything above to
and I lay my heart there every time we meet

A typical guy seeking treasure sailing on this lonely sea
lives to lay his world at your lovely feet
La la la la la la la la la la la

Well, you walk my way and this song begins to play
I want to share what I'm feeling
I've got to find the words that say
what my heart is already singing

La la la la la la la la (love you)
Doo be doo be doo be (deed I do)
There I've nearly said what's rolling round my head
Every time I've got the chance to be with you

A typical guy doesn't always say what's on his mind
Doo be doo be doo be doo be deed I do
La la la la la la la la I love you

-Patrick

Patrick,
It takes right back to the 60s. It made me smile from the start to end. Nice work. Thanks.

Patrick,

Fun song! Kind of Elvis Costello/Cars/Bubblegum feel. And very catchy! The kind of tune that shot to the top of the charts when we were kids...

Good mix. What was the twirly, whistling synth in the opening?
It seems like you played that..(?)

Nice vocals. The harmonies are TIGHT! and really drive the sound of the song...Did you sing them - they sound "real"... nice! however they were done...

The Stones guitars work great for this without sounding derivative ("like a Stones song"). Because of the speed up I imagine... (giving it that EC sound)...

The ending was cool - almost transformed to The Kinks! - you covered a lot of ground in this!

I must have listened a dozen times... enjoyed it each time..

This reminds me of the mid 60's sound, i.e.,
post Beatles but before blues rock and
psychedelia began to dominate. floyd
described it well. It did take me back to
the Kinks.

But...irrespective of the flashbacks it sounds
refreshing and showcases your fine talent
in the write, the vocals and the entire
production.

A great listen. Thanks

Really cool song!! Clever and fun humor with the right touch of sentiment. It reminds me of what radio music sounded like when I was a kid. Very much enjoyed!! Take care. Greg

Hi Patrick,

Like all those before me, I, too, ended up back in the 60s as I listened. It's a great song you've composed, arranged and mixed. I found it entertaining and uplifting and it left a smile on my face after it had finished. What more could anyone ask for!

All the best,
Noel

Floyd, Thanks for the kind words. The intro was done on an old Korg DW-8000 synth i picked up recently. I used "patch 38". And played it in ( repeatedly until i got it right). I did sing the harmony line in on a separate track after practicing singing along with the original over a few days of commuting.

Towards the end of the tune i subbed the drum parts to push it along. I had a friend point out that Joey Kramer of Aerosmith would often drive a tune with a Cymbal pattern at certain points to give it a lift. i had to give that a go! Thanks for giving it a spin and your comments. I appreciate it.

Thanks Guenter. I am glad you enjoyed. I had the abrupt ending in mind from the beginning and was glad that BIAB was able to make it happen.

Hi Patrick,

A little bit too much reverb/delay on the backing vocals.
But apart from that: A GREAT PRODUCTION!
It almost sounds like The Byrds.

I loved it - bright and bubbly, and as floyd mentioned, nods to all those fantastic songs.

The abrupt ending had me giggling. Fun listen!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks for pointing that out. Reverb is still tricky for me. Sounds different in the headphones, car etc. I'll tweak my mix and see if i can gain a better grasp. Much appreciated, Patrick

Patrick, Definitely the 60's vibe. Very melodic. At first I didn't like all the processing on the vocals, but it grew on me as the song progressed. Really nice arrangement. Nicely sung and mixed. Great job! Tom

Thanks Tom. I think a desser i added late in the mixdown might have hurt more than helped. I have a bit of work to do in that area. Thank you for comments. I appreciate it.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
