Hi Guys,

I did all the chord progression in BB. Still looking for some solo material in BB.

https://soundcloud.com/planobillydfw/woke-up-this-morning

Woke Up This Morning

Well I woke this morning every thing’s going wrong

Two tone Malone showed me how to sing this song

Well I woke up this morning just why I got the blues

Well I got up Sunday morning

And I fell down my knees

I ain’t looking for no religion

Just help me please

Well I woke up this morning
just why I got the blues End of measure 26

Vocal Hook 8 bars EADG

I could have died in the middle of the night

But I woke up this morning got to carry on with the fight

Lord if you gona keep me alive

I need a little help if I’m going to survive Measure 34

Well I woke up Thursday morning
At the House of Blues
Wife don’t think it’s funny
Sisters mad too.
woke up this morning just why I got the blues

There are all these bloggers
Tellin me what to sing
But now that cheap whiskey
It’s makin my ears ring
woke up this morning just why I got the blues

Well I could have died in the middle of the night

But I woke up this morning got to carry on with the fight

Lord if you gona keep me alive

I need a little help if I’m going to survive Measure 82

Well I woke up this morning
Where did I leave my shoes
Can anybody tell me
Were we on the news
woke up this morning
just why

Outro
I got the blues Measure 90 +

8 bar solo

Vocal Hook 8 bars EADGG7

I could have died in the middle of the night

But I woke up this morning got to carry on with the fight

Lord if you gona keep me alive

I need a little help if I’m going to survive

You may think it’s funny
I know we had a good time
But these shoes beneath my bed
They doggone sure ain’t mine
Woke up this morning just why I got the blues

They’re bout two inches longer
And you know just what they say
That while we are having fun
My wife was doin the same
woke up this morning just why I got the blues

Anyone got any ideas of how to make it better and solos in BB that would work.

Cheers,

Billy

Nice production work, Love the guitar solo, who is the star at the beginning who says yeah; nice vocal performance; like the low register notes; nice thanks for sharing!

You can never go wrong singing the blues. Your voice is a great fit for the lyrics. I love the piano part. I'm not sure you really need to find a solo in BiaB. I enjoyed it!

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

PgFantastic, the sound effect "yeah" came from one of my keyboards. Sometimes it is just little things that catch your ear.

Charlie, Thank you so much for making me feel at home here. I have spent thousands of hours in my life alone, on my boat, in aircraft and generally roaming around the world in very remote places. I have seen way to many beautiful sunsets with no one to share them with. Music is a way to connect with people.

- MWG, I really like blues music and I did enjoy playing the piano on this. I wrote this on guitar some time back and played it live at the House Of Blues in Dallas, Texas.
This is only the second time this song has been played, and the first recording of it. Still a work in progress.

I have been lucky to have many really good blues player friends who let me play with them. Most of them have passed away and I miss them a lot.

Band In A Box is very new to me so I am sure I will find ways to use it for things I write. It has been a fun software to use so far, and I think it will be of more value to me as time goes on.

Cheers,

Billy

That was a well done blues (bit like Jimmy Buffet doing the blues).
Not sure about needing soloists the guitar sounded just right.

Well, you gotta couple of long time blues
fans sitting here listening and liking what
they are hearing!

Keep 'em coming...need to keep the blues
door open around here. We try to do
our part smile

To our ears this has a JJ Cale vibe and
that is a very good thing!

Hi guys,

I been workin my rear end off lately. Tropical storms that never really got here, had to move the boat to be safe,a new cattle ranch we just closed on, and a big John Deere tractor we got with the ranch which I am rebuilding the cooling system on today..jeeze...to much like work...lol

PeterF...thanks man...I guess if you live in the Florida keys everything has a little Jimmy Buffet in it ...lol

Thanks Floyd...perhaps you can play some guitar with me on the next one, or sing or something...that would be very cool!!!

Guenter, Thanks, and a German beer sounds good about now...lol...Karlsruhe is a wonderful town that I have been to a few times...you could fax a photo of the beer to me...lol

Janice & Bud, thanks for the kind words. I think I listen to something Bud played guitar on, I think,( don't ever get old and forgetful..lol) which was really pro stuff so if I remember right Bud can play real blues. Perhaps I will write something that catches Janice's ear some day and I will have a "REAL" vocalist sing something on one of my creations...hint...hint...lol

I really have to work hard to play anything that does not sound like blues. Sometimes when I play jazz I have to write a note to myself that says, " STOP bending the strings Billy"...lol

Anyway, I may be away from the computer for a day or two.

Thanks again to all for putting up with me.

Cheers,

Billy

Hey Billy, Bud (me) is just an ole rhythm acoustic guitar/upright bass player. Any guitar solos on our songs other than via RT's are done by Tom Adams (Tommyad) or on a couple of songs floyd jane as in our last post -- the video of Bottomland.

Janice loves the blues but as I always say -- we spend a small amount of time with music (mostly spend our time outdoors hiking and biking) and we are VERY slow to get around to songs and carry a substantial backlog of projects smile But, hey, we are always open to possibilities and we really do like your posts!

Old and forgetful? Hmmmm....I may be the oldest one around here.

Hi guys,

I have been working way to much lately. Up before daylight and coming home after dark. I have another week or two of this.

No time to play music or go fishing!!!...not good...lol

gruverider, thanks for the kind words.

Janice & Bud...I am not in a rush so if we do something together at some point, don't feel like you have a dead line. Music needs to be fun not work!!!

Best to everyone,

Billy

Didn't see anything about the tracks or who's doing the current guitar solo/fills. It doesn't sound like a BB track.

I like the groove you have going on.... who doesn't like a cowbell laying down a solid 4..?

So... If I was doing this and couldn't play a satisfactory fill/lead track(s) on my tele..... I would go to Real Band and find a solo track for guitar, and or piano that I liked and let it render out. Listen to it to see if it works. If it does, render it a few more times. Move all the tracks to a DAW that lets you work easily with volume envelopes and then start splicing and dicing the tracks.... copy and paste where needed and eventually end up with some killer fills and a lead that's just to die for.

I refer to one song I did in this manner.... on my music site.... close to the last page I think.... The Best Christmas. The piano fills come from 2 tracks of the same piano.... and the guitar solo in that song is 5 tracks of the same RT because every rendering in RB is slightly different.

You can find my music at:

Add nothing that adds nothing to the music.
You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Very cool, soulful blues!! You do a great job of keeping the vocal loose and natural. Very enjoyable track! Take care. Greg

Thanks Guitarhacker,

I can splice and dice the some of the piano tracks from BB.
There are more of those to pick from.

Less work just to play something on my guitar or my piano.

This is a sort of fusion or R&B and blues so BB does not have anything I have found so far.

I have several other songs that are more standard that I will try the next experiment on.

Thanks for telling me how you go about doing stuff.

Cheers,

Billy

Blues - fun to play, and fun to listen to, and yours was certainly fun to listen to.

I saw this in the lyrics, but unfortunately it was a typo:

I need a little help if I’m going to survive Measure 82

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
