Bibi & blaka

This is my "latin jazz" take on an old, 3-chord icelandic lullaby. It's still widely known & used locally, but since it's virtually unknown anywhere else, I've edited a 'singing' preschool into the start of my version to give listeners a sense of how it's usually done.
Be mindful that the volume at the start is lower than the bulk of the song, so resist the urge to crank it up or you'll get a nasty shock when the instruments kick in! laugh

p.s. The image I used is of an airline pillow, containing a translation of the lyrics into english. If it's too hard to read, the link to the picture is here.

Formalities:

Style is _BOSSMKG.STY

RealTracks in style: 2284:Bass, Acoustic, BossaRon Ev 140
RealTracks in style: 1104:Guitar, Nylon, Rhythm BossaGrooveComp Ev 140
RealTracks in style: 2372:Guitar, Electric, Soloist BossaMike Ev 140*
RealTracks in song: 1292:Accordion, Rhythm TexMexCountry Ev 120
RealDrums: RealDrums in Style: BossaLewis

*The electric guitar actually alternates between the soloist and bossa rhythm guitars throughout, but since the track starts with the soloist, that's what gets listed into the Memo.
And there's also a ST Electric Piano in parts, plus one of the latest sax soloist (Phil, if memory serves). Your truly tops it off with the melody cool

p.s. Forgot to mention I merged the Bossa Perc set with Lewis in a DAW (still hoping for this to be added as an option directly in BBox).

Hey Icelander, I listened to your lullaby and I didn't fall asleep, the proof of its appeal ;-)

Pleasant listening and and happy to hear the accordion, an instrument I would like to find again in the future PGM RTs with different styles (french style e.g.;-), especially as soloist track.

Here, it is a tex/mex style, I am amazed it fits well at some places of the tune, less at some others.

I'm definitely with you on that sentiment! I'm a big fan of that instrument (which may have counted towards a slight overuse here), but as you said, my options were a bit limited.

Hi!

Very nice! For most of us Westerners, the Icelandic language is very difficult ... thanks for the translation!

Di and I love Latin music. This is so soft and enjoyable. Nice selection of instruments and well mixed. Very nice!

Very nicely done and I enjoyed listening. Your choice of instruments worked well together and you did a good job on your mix and overall production. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool. I like the intro with the preschoolers and the
jump to the Bossa groove. I'm also in agreement about
wanting more accordion tracks. I've used both the pop
and Tex-Mex RT's but more would be nice. Throwing the
Tex-Mex RT in there was infinitely more effective than
I could have imagined.

Everything worked for us. Enjoyed the spin!

I'm pleased to see the appreciation for that very rudimentary edit, which I always just regarded as the "necessary evil" addition to my part of the piece, given the target audience (i.e the people on this forum).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
